AfterSteve Jobs died, his friend Larry Ellison said something like this, “There willnever be another Steve Jobs.” Larry wrote this list of Steve's life lessonsto remind us all.

    Love what you do.

SurelySteve became a billionaire when he brought Apple back. Apple was hiscalling—even after he got fired from the company. We all have bad jobs at onepoint in our lives. But the question is:amI in the right job? Have I found the right company? Life doesn't go on forever.

Don't do it all by yourself.

Stevelearned a great leader can't do it all by himself. He needs people. They mustbe talented. They must be given the opportunity to succeedand fail. In short, youhave to learn to be a great leader if you want to see your great ideas and hardwork truly have an influence on the world.

Appleis always the best at creating a new product that meets the exact needs ofusers. It's empathy (同情心)that helps Apple achieve this. Whenever the user has the first touch with a newApple product, he says“Wow, it's just what I need.” Remember: you're King inthe business world if you know exactly what consumers desire.

Don't mess around with your health.

That's the most important lesson from Steve'slife. It's great to learn from him now, but the fact is that he should still behere if he had treated his cancer properly. Instead, Steve chose a naturopathic(自然疗法的)solutionthat wasn't effective. When he finally decided to take his doctor's originaladvice ,itwas too late.

    A.They must be inspired.

B.Be the best in your field.

    C.Take your health seriously.

D.Get on your right path now.

E.Will this lead to a successful career?

F.Put yourself in the other person'sshoes.

G.What are the key things that we canlearn from him?

“Newspapers should become the leading local Internet ad aggency, which goes against ancient newspaper instinct of not ever helping anyone who is your competitor , ” says managing director Stephen Gray.“But the fact is that audiences have split in a million directions, so here we are in a local market and our job is to help businesses in our local market succeed. If that means we are placing ads on Google and Facebook for local businesses, so what ?That's what it takes to succeed and ad agencies have been making a living off doing that for some time.”

It's actually not a bad idea(and I've seen some newspapers do it successfully).Except it seems to be tantamount to recommending that newspapers get out of the newspaper business. And if they become ad agencies, then newspapers really aren't newspapers anymore, are they? And then there isn't really a need for all that expensive journalism anymore, is there?

This is the problem with the idea of coming up with a “new business model” for newspapers. If you have a new business model, then you're not in the same business anymore. But you hear it discussed as if newspapers and journalism can remain fundamentally what they are, just with a new “business model” plugged in.Like a toy car that just needs new batteries to Keep running

Look, I'm not saying that media companies shouldn't offer marketing services—they've been doing so for decades(e.g.custom publishing). And as brands increasingly want to provide content directly to consumers, marketing services may be a big growth area for media companies.

The problem is that once you cross the line to selling other companies' media because it's more valuable than your own, then you face a fundamental question about why you're going to the expense of producing your own.

The world is filled with smart, talented and gifted people. We meet them every day.A few days ago,my car was not running well.I pulled it into a garage, and the young mechanic had it fixed in just a few minutes. He knew what was wrong by simply listening to the engine.I was amazed. The sad truth is,great talent is not enough.

I am constantly shocked at how little talented people earn.I heard the other day that less than 5 percent of Americans earn more than $100,000 a year.A business consultant who specializes in the medical trade was telling me how many doctors and dentists struggle financially. It was this business consultant who gave me the phrase,“They are one skill away from great wealth.”

There is an old saying that goes,“Job means ‘just over broke(破产)'”.And unfortunately,I would say that the saying applies to millions of people.Because school does not think financial intelligence is intelligence, most workers live_within_their_means.They work and they pay the bills.Instead I recommend young people to seek work for what they will learn, more than what they will earn.

When I ask the classes I teach,“How many of you can cook a better hamburger than McDonald's?” almost all the students raise their hands.I then ask,“So if most of you can cook a better hamburger, how come McDonald's makes more money than you?” The answer is obvious: McDonald's is excellent at business systems. The reason why so many talented people are poor is that they focus on building a better hamburger and know little or nothing about business systems. The world is filled with talented poor people .They focus on perfecting their skills at building a better hamburger rather than the skills of selling and delivering the hamburger.

    1. (1) The author mentions the mechanic in the first paragraph that________.

    2. (2) The underlined part in the third paragraph can be best replaced by ________.

    3. (3) Why do talented people earn so 1ittle according to the author?

    4. (4) The main purpose of the author is to tell us________.

NEWSPAPERS have certainly been around for a long time. Many New Zealand newspapers are now heading towards their 125th anniversary (周年纪念) of the first publication and some New Zealand papers are more than 140 years old.

However, some people think that newspapers are yesterday's medium(传媒)and that new media, like television and even the Internet, will in the very near future cause newspapers to die. What is clear is that the growth of new media, and in particular the Internet, will cause newspapers to change themselves and change their product to meet customers' needs.

People read newspapers because of their unique(独特的) strength. They have a large audience and yet a certain appeal(吸引力). They reach the majority of the population each day through covering national and international news and yet they offer interest to gardeners, cooks and even slaves to fashion.

Newspapers also remain strong because of people's continued love of reading. Reading is an active and involving(专注的) process, but people are able to read at their own speed and return to newspapers for reference purposes.

Newspapers will certainly not stop the Internet being a competitor (竞争者). But no newlyintroduced news medium has ever killed an old one, and if best guesses are to be made then it is likely that this will be the case with this new medium as well.

    1. (1) What will cause the “dying” of the newspaper?

    2. (2) “They have a large audience and yet a certain appeal.” Which answer best describes this statement?

    3. (3) Which of the following does not refer to newspapers?

    4. (4) Which title would not be suitable for this article?

Lori:Oh, yes. I know all about it Ihave work experience in this field. Last year, I did it for a long time.

    Chuck:Really? How did you like
