A:
B: Yes. The government has built "the Green Great Wall" in north China. It helps a lot, but it's not enough.
A: I think we should keep planting more trees.

Do you know how many people there were in the world 200 years ago? Just one billion. But only 100 years later, the population was increased by 100percent. In 1971, about 3. 5 billion people lived on the earth. Forty years later, the number doubled(翻倍). On October 31st, 2011, the 7 billionth world citizen (公民), a baby girl was born in the Philippines(菲律宾). At this speed, it will shoot up to 8 billion by the year 2025.
Most new babies were born in developing countries. Most families have four or five children. In many developed countries, the population is increasing slowly. Most families have only one or two babies. In 1950, about 25 percent of the world's population lived in developed countries. By 2050, the number will reduce to 10 percent. In many developing countries, people are now short of food, water and medicine. What's worse, farmland is becoming less and less, and farmers are moving to cities to make a living. But cities couldn't satisfy their needs at all. Finally, many people can't find jobs, and they become poorer and poorer.
To solve these problems, many developing countries are taking measures to control the population.
When I was 17, l read such a quote(引文), "If you live each day as if it were your last, someday you'll most certainly be right. " It touched me a lot, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror(镜子) every morning and asked myself, "Would this be my last day? Would I want to do what l am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days, I know I need to do something and to change something.
About a year ago with the help of medical instrument(医疗器械), the doctors discovered that I had a terrible illness the worst I ever imagined. They told me that I could live no longer than three to six months. They advised me to go home and get things in order, which was a warning for preparation to die. It meant trying to tell my kids everything in just a few months, and to tell my family what they'd do in the following years. It meant saying many goodbyes. l lived with that warning all day. But later the doctors told me that this illness might be cured(治愈)with the help of modern science and technology. I had an operation and m fine now.
Your time is limited(有限的), so don't waste it living someone else's life. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and feelings.
time horse month soon help however few ready enough hold |
I have been very busy since I became a volunteer for the Riding for the Disabled Association.
Every Saturday, I help to get the horses for the disabled(残疾的)riders. Many more disabled people want to ride than you'd imagine. It's a disadvantage that I don't know how to ride —I'd love to get on long rides with the riders -- but I'll learn it . Right now, I'm just happy to be able to lead the horses around for the disabled riders.
I'm also to organize a sale, which will be next month. It's a lot more work than helping the disabled. I need to collect second-hand things to sell at the sale. There are things available(获得的) than I thought, but I'm sure we'll have enough by next .
I hope the sale raises more money than last month's work. It was rainy, so too few people took part in the event. Last week, we held an auction(拍卖). The auction took much less to organize than the work. , for some reason, people offered too little money for the things, so we didn't raise money.
