Before children learn to read, they need to have a good understanding of basic words and what they mean. And while that may sound a bit overwhelming（令人不知所措的）, there are very easy ways that you can build a preschooler's vocabulary.

Visit the Library

If you are looking for a great place to start building your preschooler's vocabulary and early reading skills, look no further than your local library.  Children's libraries often have fun activities, which will expose them to new words and give them an opportunity to socialize.

Teach and Strengthen the Alphabet（字母表）

 The bonus: it's a great way to keep your preschooler busy on long car rides, or while waiting in lines. You can also play games using the alphabet, where you name items that start with letters in alphabetical order.

Use Descriptive Words

When it comes to increasing your child's vocabulary, more is better.  For example, when describing a fabric pattern, try using words such as unusual, relaxing, or creative. By using them in the proper context（语境）, they become understandable.

Make Labels

If you want your preschooler to learn more words, then make it easy.  Use a label maker to name commonly used items so they learn to recognize what the word looks like.

Read Aloud Together

Reading aloud is a great way to expose your preschooler to new words. Together you can work out what they mean by using context—the other words or pictures that might be on the page.

If you're close to flowing water, you can choose from various approaches to stay hydrated, as well as wash dishes and do laundry, without taking much trouble to bring all your water with you. This is a fantastic way to begin your day.

Do your Research

Some trees supply wood that's appropriate for making walking sticks. Some wood is suitable for starting fires, while other wood is fit for keeping them going. Other trees may provide nuts and fruits.

Fully Enjoy Nature

My hope is that the strategies for first-time campers will help you appreciate the great outdoors. Whether you're hiking, fishing, swimming, or cooking by a warm fire, each of them is fun. I live approximately 2 miles from fabulous Current River, which is fed by cold springs some 40 miles upstream. 

I have no interest in hunting or party; I fancy simply sitting on a sand bar at dawn, watching the mist rise from the water.  I listen for the beavers making splashes at night with their wide, flat tails. I hear coyotes howling at night too. I've seen cottonmouth snakes and even panther tracks! I love the serenity and the small thrills, the kinds of experiences I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

Above all else,I look for understanding in a friend.He is not quick to judge.Instead,he tries to learn from others.He puts himself in the other person's place,and he tries to think of ways to be helpful.He is also a good listener.

At the same time,a true friend is honest.He does not look for faults in others.In short,a true friend will try to understand me and accept me.

Another quality of a true friend is reliability(可靠性).I can always depend on a true friend.If he tells me he will meet me somewhere at a certain time,I can be sure that he will be there.That is to say,if I am in trouble,he will not run away from me.

There is a fourth quality that makes a friend special.We should enjoy our lives,and we would enjoy our friendship together.That is why I especially like friends who are fun to be with.A true friend likes the same things I like.We share experience and learn from each other.

Choose the right place.

Always plan ahead when you know that you have to dine out.Look for the restaurants that serve delicious meals that are low in fat. You're more likely to overeat there.Once you've decided the place,get familiar with their food menu.Decide what you're going to order before you go.

Start with a soup.

One easy approach to stick to your diet when eating out is starting with a soup. This will keep you from sitting hungry and filling you up.A soup is the first course that you order when eating out.

Salt improves food's flavour and is often used heavily in restaurant meals.When you dine out,ask the attendant to prepare food without added salt.Ask about the ingredients to see if there are items that may be higher in salt.Moreover,it is better to limit the use of condiments(调料)such as mustard,ketchup,pickle and sauces as they may contain salt that you don't need.Instead of salty appetisers(开胃小吃),choose fruit and vegetable salad.

Don't eat it all.

 To avoid overeating,you can split a meal with a companion or put half the meal in a plate and leave the rest.

Sticking to a healthy diet doesn't mean you have to turn down everyone's offer when asked to eat out.

If you are looking to improve your relationship with your parents,you are not alone. There are a number of steps that can be taken to form a better relationship with your parents.

Be grateful.Consider all that your parents have done for you.You may find yourself feeling thankful to your parents.You will be more willing to improve the relationship.Let your parents know that you are appreciative for all they have done for you. For example,get them a nice gift.If you live with your parents,do some extra housework without being asked.

 Often,people do not get along because they fail to take others' perspective.Accept that your parents are different.Think about how their lives may be different from your life,and how these different histories may be contributing to issues in the relationship.

Avoid unnecessary arguments.Sometimes arguments are unavoidable,but do your best to avoid unnecessary quarrels.This may mean that you have to bite your tongue when one of your parents says something controversial. If it is,make the point clearly and modestly in order to avoid an overly emotional argument.

Don't ask for their advice unless you really want it.Sometimes problems arise in relationships between parents and children,particularly at the teenage years and beyond,because parents can try to give advice that might hurt your sense of independence. Otherwise,you may be opening the door to frustration on your part.

"Find your passion!" When discussing future career options or selecting a major in college, your parents often say this. The very expression is meant to inspire. But is it good advice? 

"Finding" a passion implies that it already exists and is simply waiting to be discovered. Unfortunately, this idea is not what science tells us. 

To study this, researchers use a framework of "fixed" and "growth" mindsets. They argue that encouraging people to "find" their passion may cause them to eventually believe that interests and passions are inborn and relatively unchangeable.  In contrast, people who view interests and passions as developed have a growth mindset of interest. 

Researchers have revealed that a fixed mindset of interest can decrease creativity. If people believe they are limited to only a few inborn interests and, in consequence, do not explore other areas, they may miss seeing important connections across domains. 

Evidently, people can do a lot to embrace a growth mindset of interest. First, realize that your interests and passions aren't pre-existing. Take an active role in developing your passions. Second, practise positive self-talk. When you lack interest in a new task, pay attention to your inner dialogue.  For example, change "I'm not interested in this" to "I'm not interested in this yet, but I know that interest can develop with time and engagement." 

 But a growth mindset of interest will help you remain open and curious. The science tells us we should work toward loving what we do. We might become more creative and resilient as a result. 

A. So can a growth mindset of interest be taught? 

B. Instead, passions, like interests, are developed. 

C. People who think this have a fixed mindset of interest. 

D. Of course, not every activity will become a burning passion. 

E. As such, seeing interests as fixed limits their creative potential.

You may find lots of amazing people in your school who you admire. As a matter of fact, amazing students are unique individuals who have discovered and chosen to follow a few universal truths. Here are some hints that can help you. 

Remain organized. Amazing students know that their time and resources(资源)are valuable. They always keep test dates in mind. So they set aside time for studying and time for social lives. Similarly, you should also do all of this. 

Amazing students recognize the limits of their knowledge. They aren't shy of asking questions. When they need additional help, they quickly turn to their professors for help. They also find out additional resources, such as instructional videos, on topics that confuse them. 

Accept and look for feedback(反馈) Negative(负面的)comments are hard to hear and easy to ignore. Amazing students, however, aren't defeated by negative comments. They use negative comment to improve their academic performance. So you should also read through your teachers comments on papers, tests and exams, and carry out the suggested changes in your future learning. 

 Amazing students are curious about the world around them. They often pay much attention to world cultures and social events. In an effort to increase your knowledge, allow your natural curiosity to lead you to increase new knowledge and equip you with new skills. 

Bees (蜜蜂) touch our lives in ways we may not realize. They are responsible for as much as one third of the food that we eat, and even play a role in growing the cotton (棉花) used in much of our clothing.  Here's how you can help:

1. Plant more flowers

Bees depend on garden flowers to ensure they have different kinds of diet. By planting flowers in your garden you can create a pleasant place for bees.  Another idea is to add hanging baskets of flowers next to your front door.

2. Find a space for a beehive (蜂窝) in your garden

Many would-be beekeepers find it difficult to find a safe space for their bees. If you have some space, contact your local beekeeping organization.  You will be surprised what a difference a beehive will make to your garden.

3. Give bees water

 They use water to produce food for their bee families and control the temperature in their hives. Bees look for a clean source of water. Leave out containers filled with clean water in your outdoor spaces and refresh them often.

4. Be bee friendly

Bees are good neighbors, and only sting (蜇) when they feel threatened. Beekeepers wear protective clothing when they are dealing with bees. If a bee flies in front of you when unprotected, do not flap (拍打) your hands.  The bee will soon lose interest.

China's growing excellence in scientific and medical research is playing a major role in the global war on pathogens（病原体） and infectious diseases, according to Alain Merieux, chairman and CEO of French Conglomerate Institute Merieux.  Merieux has made a massive contribution to improving China's public health over the past 40 years, initially by providing vaccines, and then through medical diagnostics and immunotherapy.

He first visited the country in April 1978, several months before the central government launched its transformative reform and opening-up policy. Since then, he has spent decades dedicated to cooperation in the health sector, eventually leading to the opening of China's first P4—photolithographic pattern plated probe—laboratory in 2015. The lab, which is based in Wuhan, Hubei Province, has the highest biosafety standards in the world, allowing researchers to study the most dangerous viruses, including Ebola. 

"In the health field, which is the one I know best, China has been able to address major issues over the past 40 years,"Merieux said, "providing access to healthcare for everyone in an enormous country; fighting against the major threats represented by pathogens, respiratory diseases and cancer; and preventing food-borne health risks."

  "China has made exceptional progress that commands respect," he said. "The country has accomplished in 40 years what other countries took a century to do, and has been able to assert （评估） itself as a leading global power." In four decades, "China has rediscovered its pride and strength," Merieux added.

"The country has particularly excelled in terms of infrastructure （基础设施）, as the creation of highways, airports and high-speed trains has completely changed the country," he said.  Merieux called for greater international cooperation with China to help in the prevention and control of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis （肺结核）.
