  • 1. 下面文章中有五处需要添加首句,请从以下选项(A、B、C、D和E)中选出符合各段意思的首句。

Everything you see around you was once nothing more than an idea in someone else's head. So, if you think you've got a genius idea, be prepared to start inventing things and get to market them. It's not as hard as you think!

The best part about inventing new things is finding out which of your problems, or other people's problems you'd most like to solve. If you can find a problem that hasn't been solved, or a way to solve a problem better, you've hit upon something you may want to achieve,

You need to find out if there are people willing to buy your product, if someone else is making or selling similar products and if your product can beat all others.

This is why you need to write down everything you can think of that relates to (与……有关) your invention, from what it is and how it works to how you will make and market it. This is the. first step in patenting (获得专利权)your idea and keeping it from being stolen.

You can't just say you have invented something useful if you don't have a prototype (雏形). At this beginning stage, don't spend too much money. In fact, if it's possible to make a working prototype from cardboard or paper, that's totally fine. If you do require a more professional prototype, use a 3-D printing company, or find a factory that you can afford.

You could license somebody else to produce, use or sell your invention. It could be the easiest way to make money from it. If you're someone who is great at sales, who can manage people well and who enjoys taking risks, starting your own business may be a better choice.

    A. There are two ways to get your product to market.

    B. Inventing a product means one thing: solving a problem.

    C. Once you've come up with an idea, it's time to do some research.

    D. Now you need to get a prototype made so that you can test it.

    E. You should protect your ideas and invention.

The word photography was first used in 1839. However, at that time the subject had to keep still (静止的) while it was taken a photo of. Few people had ever tried to take photos of moving subjects. The first man to do so was Eadweard Muybridge, a world-famous photographer. He created the first moving picture.

When a horse is running, do all four hooves(蹄)ever leave the ground at the same time? That was the bet that a gentleman called Leland Stanford had with some of his friends. Most people believed that a horse always had one hoof on the ground, but Stanford didn't think so.

Because a horse's legs are moving so fast, it's impossible to tell just by looking. Stanford needed away to record the movement of a running horse. In1872, Leland Stanford offered Eadweard Muybridge $ 25, 000 to find the answer. Muybridge had no idea if he could successfully set up and perform an experiment to settle the bet, but he thought he should give it a try.

In 1878, after years of experiments, Muybridge got what he wanted. He had a sequence (连续)of 12images(图像), and one of them clearly showed all four of the horse's hooves were off the ground at the same time. In the end Muybridge collected his well-earned $ 25, 000 from Stanford.

Though Thomas Edison is usually considered as the person who created the first movie in 1889, it was the work of Eadweard Muybridge and the bet that led to Edison's invention.

Welcome to the photo display of unusual animals around the world!

    Here're some of them.

Giraffes usually have brown spots, right? In fact, not all of them! Kenya, a country in Africa, is home to the white giraffe. Once there were three. Unluckily, two of them were killed. What a pity!

Ton The frog is named the' goliath frog. It is the biggest frog on the earth. It can weigh more than 7pounds and grow up to 30 cm long. It lives only in rainforests in West Africa. Most types of frogs find shallow (浅的) pools of water where they will lay their eggs. But, the goliath frogs use their powerful legs to dig their own holes.

Did this squirrel fall into the paint? No! The Malabar giant squirrel is born with a beautiful fur coat, with colours of black, orange, brown, even purple and red. This might help the squirrel stay safe in forests in southern India. It seldom comes down to the ground as it's careful by nature. It can grow up to90 cm long, bigger than the squirrels we usually see.

What a cute spider! It looks a lot like the most famous Pokemon, Pikachu. Only the females(雌性)look like Pikachu. Experts think they use their bright-yellow back to attract insects(吸引昆虫)for them to eat. These spiders live in the eastern US and in Central America. But they can be hard to see since they're only around one centimetre long.

    2. (2) Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?

Some think it is convenient (get) in touch with others with the mobile phones, which also makes them feel safe (especial) in time of trouble. Besides, itis nice to enjoy various functions of different mobile phones. Some think differently. First, the mobile phone is not must at school, because there (be) some IC phones there, making it easy to call others. (two), many students often play games and send messages with their mobile phones, even in class, will surely have bad (influence) on their study. What's more, it will result in a great waste of time and money.

In my opinion, the mobile phone is a useful tool in our daily life, it doesn't mean we can use it freely at school.
