Charnaie Gordon reads a lot of books with her 6-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son. Those books are about people from different countries with different backgrounds and cultures. She hopes her children can see into the world of others from books.

One day, the family realised that they couldn't keep all the books. Then they donated some to the local library. Later, the daughter learned that some families didn't have enough money to buy kid books. Then she had an idea: They could give the books to kids who needed them.

In August 2018, the family started a project—50States, 50 Books. They decided to donate 50 different kinds of children's books to each state of the country.

In the beginning, Gordon didn't know what to expect. But a week after she put the project on her blog, book donations began arriving in the mail. By November, her family had collected more than 700books. A publisher sent 800more. With that donation, they could send 50 books to 30 states. Six months later, a final donation, from author Minh Le and his wife, got the family to their goal of 2, 500 books. Then Gordon mailed the books to schools, libraries and families that needed them.

Because of this challenge, many kids can read books for free. Gordon says it's important for kids to read lots of books since it can help kids understand what they can do and be whatever they want to be.

Now that she has finished her 50 States, 50Books challenge, Gordon is beginning another one.

In our English class, Mr Chen told us to  (讨论) great books and write a book review of our favourite one. I (猜想) many students will take The Ad ventures of Tom Sawyer as their favourite book. This book describes people's lives in the (南方的) states of America. It tells us how young people grow, how people love each other and how bad people pay for their actions. Its writer Mark Twain is my favourite foreign writer. He is a (著名的)writer. By the way, Mark Twain is famous for his humour in writing.

It was always thought that Treasure Island was the product of Robert Louis Stevenson's imagination.1, recent research has found the true story of this exciting work.

Stevenson, a Scotsman, had lived 2for many years. In 1881 he returned to Scotland for a holiday.3 him were his American wife Fanny and his stepson Lloyd.

Have you ever heard of Kong Xiangdong? He is a world-famous classical pianist and composer. He is well-known his work Forever Friends, a song for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Even now, people all around the world are still (bring) together by the music of the song written by him.

Kong was born on October 22, 1968 in Shanghai, when he was young, he showed interest music. However, it was not easy for his parents to buy (he) a musical instrument at that time. At the age of seven, he was lucky enough to get a piano. He practised it quite hard every day. He never thought of giving up, he met with a lot of difficulties on the road of music. It's usual for teachers to tell students about good books to read. But what if 1 get to choose what their teachers read?

Since 2018, Educated has been considered as one of the most popular books around the world. The writer of the book, Tara Westover, is an American living in the UK. She shared her story of growing up in the book. Tara used to live in a mountain village with her family in the northwestern US. It is a very isolated (隔绝的) area. Her family was very traditional. Her father was against public education(教育), so the children in her family including Tara herself had never been to school. As Tara grew up, she felt that she had to leave this terrible environment, so she left her village when she was 17.

However, life was not easy for her. From living habits to social（社交的)skills and schoolwork, Tara had a lot to learn while building her new life. But she made it in the end. First she taught herself some maths and grammar to enter Brigham Young University. Then she began to study history there. At last, her hard work ended in success.
