① Recently, the Youth Times magazine did a survey of young people's mental health. It found that junior middle school students in Zhejiang feel the heaviest pressure from school among teenagers. Besides,

    48. 8%of middle school students show signs of mental health problems.

② What are students worried about? "First, the class ranking(排名) after exams. Second, being unable to reach their parents' expectation. These are followed by endless homework and after-school classes, "the Youth Times reported.

③ This is not only true with Chinese students. The American Psychological Association(心理协会)did a similar survey. The results are surprising. In the US, teenagers have a higher level of stress than adults. For them, one of the big reasons for stress is also schoolwork.

④ What can we do to help? To begin with, make sure you have a healthy life. Have enough sleep, for about 9—10 hours a day. "Spend at least thirty minutes exercising every day and eat well, "said Norman B. Anderson, a leader of the association. "Also, try to keep away from mobile phones and computers. If you spend too much time on them, you will more likely feel depressive, "Norman added.

  • 1.  ·Passage B ·

A teacher began his class by holding up a glass of water. He asked the students, "How much do you think this glass weighs? "

"Fifty grams(克)! ""One hundred grams! "The students answered. The students took a great interest in guessing.

"I don't know either, "said the teacher. "What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes? ""Nothing, "the students said.

"OK. What would happen if I held it up like this for an hour? ""Your arm would ache, "said a student.

"You're right. Now what would happen if I held it for a day? ""Your arm would go numb(麻木的). You may have to go to hospital! "said another student, and all the students laughed.

"Very good. But during all this, did the weight of the glass change? " asked the teacher. "No. ""Then what caused the pain and numbness? "The students were confused. "What should I do now to get rid of the pain? " asked the teacher again. "Put the glass down! "said a student.

"Exactly! "said the teacher. "Life's problems are something like this. Hold them for a few minutes in your head and they seem OK. Think of them for a long time and they begin to cause ache. Hold them even longer and they begin to make you numb. You will not be able to do anything. "

The students learned a truly important lesson. It's important to think of the worries or problems in your life. But what's even more important is to "put them down" at the end of every day.

  • 1.  ·Passage D ·

Most teenagers feel sad or afraid when their parents fight. They might think their parents don't love each other anymore.

In fact, it is normal for parents to disagree and argue sometimes. They might disagree about important things like jobs and family decisions. They might even disagree about little things that don't seem important at all— like what's for dinner. Maybe sometimes parents feel so strongly about their differences that it may lead to arguments. However, these arguments are often over quickly. Parents may say sorry and make up, and the family returns to normal.

As a family member, you should find out what it really means when your parents fight. When your parents get angry with each other, they might say things they don't really mean. If your parents are fighting, don't worry too much about it. Try to find a good way to solve it.

If your parents' fighting really troubles you, you might find it hard to sleep or get to school. If this happens, try talking to your parents. They may not even realize it until you tell them how their fighting has influenced you. You can also tell other relatives, a teacher or a close friend.

Just remember that no family is perfect and arguments are common in every family.

    1. (1) What does the underlined phrase "make up" in Paragraph 2 mean?
    2. (2) What does the writer think teenagers should do when parents fight?
    3. (3) What is the main idea of Paragraph 4?
    4. (4) What can we learn from the passage?
  • 1.  下面文章中有五处(第1~5题)需要添加小标题。请从以下选项(A~F) 中选出符合各段意思的小标题。选项中有一项是多余选项。

We all have problems. It's part of growing up. Sometimes you want to keep them as secrets, but think about asking your parents for help. Here you can find some tips on how to communicate with them in a better way.

You may feel unhappy that your parents seem to try to decide everything for you. You may think they won't understand even if you talk to them. Well, that's not true. You want to make your own decisions. But your parents may not know this. They think you're still a baby and need their care.

Your friends are important. But getting ideas from parents is important, too. Your parents really care about you. They know you better than anyone else. Your young friends don't have all the experience that your parents have. When your parents were kids, they went through the same kinds of things as you. They can give you help, or they can just listen.

So now you want to talk to your parents. Start by choosing who to talk to. Do you want to talk to one or both of your parents? Sometimes, you may want to talk to your father because you have a problem with your mother. Or sometimes you could choose the calmer one to talk with first

You need to choose the right time. Don't try to talk to your parents when they are busy, like when they're on the phone. When they're more relaxed, say something like, "I really feel like talking about something. Do you have the time? "

Try to start your talk with something fun. This will make talking easier. For example, ask your parents questions about their day. How's the work? Show them respect by listening to them carefully. If your parents don't understand, that's OK. Sometimes you have to explain things to them again or in a different way.

    A. Why you should talk to your parents

    B. Try not to misunderstand each other

    C. Ways of having a good talk

    D. Turn to your friends for more advice

    E. Decide who you choose to talk to

    F. When you should talk to your parents
