Chinese New Year begins on doors and walls. Spring couplets (春联) stand for people's wishes for a happier in the coming year. It has a long history.

The couplets are written onpaper. They are very important during the Spring Festival. People are very busy before the Spring Festival, but sticking couplets is usually thething to do. When I was a child, my mother would ask me to take some to people who wrote couplets for us. When they were writing, I would watch how they used the brush pen(毛笔) to  these great works.

China has entered the business of making planes. The first Chinese-made commercial (商业的) aircraft took off from Shanghai on Sunday.  The narrow-bodied C919 plane had 128 passengers on board.

The company that made the plane is known as the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd.  Newspapers in China called the C919 "a symbol of industrial prowess (工业造诣) and national pride".

A passenger on the flight was impressed with the plane. He said, " It was comfortable and unforgettable. I'll remember it for a long time."

COMAC hopes to be a major player in the commercial plane market. It hopes to compete with industry giants such as Boeing and Airbus. COMAC started developing the C919 in 2008 in China.  In September 2022, it passed the standards to fly commercially in China.

 It bought five of the aircraft. COMAC plans to build 150 planes each year for the next five years. A spokesperson said there were orders for more than 1,000 C919s from different Chinese airlines. He hoped airlines from other countries would soon start making orders. He added that the plane was "an important milestone (里程碑)" for China's aircraft industry.

People in other countries like the horse-face skirt, too. Chinese clothing companies have gotten a lot of  for it from abroad. A report studied how  the skirt was among foreign users of Chinese short video platforms.

In the free game, healthy food always appears in green circles and unhealthy food always comes in red circles. Some other everyday objects, such as pencils and sweaters, appear randomly (随机地) in the green or red circles. Once a user taps on (点击) an object in the green circle, he or she gets a point. But tapping on an object in the red circle gets a point deducted (扣除).

Does this simple game work well? The developers of the app made a study. They invited more than 1,200 volunteers to play the game once a day. After a month, the volunteers reported changes in their diet and weight. Most of them said they had started eating more healthy food. Some volunteers used to eat junk food two to four times a week. At the end of the study, they had reduced this to once a week. Most volunteers lost more than half a kilogram of weight.

The app works very well. Through practice, the game trains users' brains to "put the brakes (刹车) on" when they see junk food. The users probably say no to unhealthy food in their daily lives!

Walking or running outdoors, people usually see rubbish all over the ground. Well, some people are doing something about it. They are plogging! "Plogging" began in Sweden. The name connects the Swedish word "plocka" which means to pick up, and the word "jogging" which means to run slowly.

A Swedish man named Erik Ahlström, started the movement in 2016. Each day he would ride his bike to work. He became worried about the rubbish and litter he saw on his way. So, he began picking up the rubbish. And that is how plogging was born!

Today, plogging is an official activity, which is becoming more and more popular. People of all ages are welcome to plog and have a good time. Exercise while helping your community. There are people all around the world doing this. It can also build closer connections in a community and help build those social connections. You get to know your neighbors. You get to feel some social duty when you do this.

Along with cleaning up the environment, there may be another reason to choose plogging instead of jogging. You may get a better physical exercise. One fitness app, Lifesum, records one hour of plogging as burning 288 calories (卡路里). And usual jogging burns about 235 calories.

Now, cities around the world hold plogging events. The goal is to spread the idea that littering is not acceptable. People would think twice before dropping a garbage on the ground.

Once upon a time, there was a happy paper doll that had no face. His whole body was perfectly cut out and painted, except for his face. However, he had a pencil with which he could draw whatever face he wanted to have. How lucky! He asked everyone he met, "What's a perfect face like?"

"One with a big beak（鸟嘴）," answered the birds. 

"No. Not one with a beak," said the trees. "The perfect face is full of leaves."

"Forget the beak and the leaves," shouted the flowers. "If you want a perfect face, you should fill it with colours."

And so everyone he met—animals, plants, the sea, mountains…—told him to draw his face with their features and colours. The doll took all of their advice. Then he had a face. However, it turned out that nobody liked it. And now he couldn't erase（擦除）it! 

"I only wanted a face that everyone would like," the doll cried. "And now look—what a disaster（灾难）!"

A small cloud heard his cries and came, "Hello, doll! I think I can help you. As I'm a cloud and do not have a shape, I can make any face you like. What do you think about me changing faces until there is one that you like? I'm sure we can fix you a little bit."

The doll again felt hopeful. The cloud made all kinds of faces for him. But none of them was perfect enough. 

"Never mind," said the doll. "You've been a great friend." He gave the cloud a big hug, and the cloud smiled from ear to ear, happy to have helped. Just then, the doll jumped excitedly, "That's it! That's the face I want! It's a perfect face!"

"Which one?" asked the cloud. "But I haven't done anything."

"Yes, yes you have! It's that face you make when I hug you!"

The cloud finally realized that he was talking about her big smile. And together, they took the pencil and drew the paper doll a big smile, ten times better than a beak, leaves, colours, waves and lots of other things. And that face was indeed the only one that everyone liked because it had the secret ingredient for perfect faces: a big smile that came from the heart and which could never be erased.
