Mary likes pandas from China. . She doesn't like tigers, because they' re a little scary.

They usually sleep 20 hours every day. But Tom doesn't like elephants. He thinks they are a little ugly and dirty.

Everyone has one or two good friends. Our friends can take care of us all the time. Our friends will go together with us through this trip of life. Henry is my English teacher from America. I met him in 2004 when he was thirty-one years old. He taught us English by telling stories, playing games and even dancing. I could still remember very clearly that one afternoon when we finished our class, we went to some other classes to sing songs. It was interesting. Henry taught us how to study English well and the way to learn about the world. Henry is my best friend, and I will value(珍 惜) those days of staying together with him forever. 

Students in the U. S. sent a small boat into the Atlantic Ocean in October 2020. It was a school experiment (实验) to see where the ocean currents (洋流) would take the boat. The boat was 1.8 meters long and had a satellite positioning system, or GPS. 

A Norwegian student found the boat on February 1, 2022, on a small Norwegian island. He took it to his school. There were some autumn leaves and pictures in the boat. 

The American students are planning a call with the Norwegian students soon. The students worried many times that their boat had gone missing. It stopped communicating with the satellite. However, the boat started showing where it was again inthesummer of 2021 when it was near Ireland. On January 30, 2022, it seemed to have reached land. 

One of the American students who sent the boat out, Molly Flynn, said she was "surprised the boat actually made it somewhere. " Flynn said she was worried the boat would get lost in the middle of the ocean. She called it "cool and surprising" that it was found.

The teacher, Stymiest, who started the project said: "When you're sending it out, you have no idea where it's going to end up and how it's going to get there, if it ends up anywhere at all. " Stymiest said the students "put their hopes and dreams and wishes into it, and I think sometimes that helps. "

We all love new inventions. They are exciting, amazing and can even change our lives. But have all these development really improved the quality(质量)of our lives?

Picture this: You're rushing to finish your homework on the computer. Your mobile phone rings, a QQ message from your friend appears on the screen , the noise from the telephone is getting louder and louder. Suddenly the computer goes blank and you lose all your work. Now you have to stay up all night to get it done. 

Inventions have speed up our lives so much that they often leave us feeling stressed and tired. Why do you think people who live far away from noisy cities, who have no telephones, no cars, even no electricity often seem to be happier? Perhaps that is because they live simpler lives. 

One family in the UK went'' back in time'' to see what life was like without all the inventions we have today. The grandmother, with their daughter, and grandsons, Benjamin, 10, and Tomas, 7, spent nine weeks in a 1940s house. They had no washing machine, microwave, computer or mobile phone.

Mr. Green is our English teacher. He is a good teacher. He often helps us a lot. And he is nice to every student. His lessons are very interesting. We usually have fun in his lessons We all like him. 

He is a tall and strong man. He is 40 years old. But he looks very young. He comes from New York. He lives in Nanjing with his family now. He has a daughter. She is a pretty girl. And she is a student in our school too. 

He likes music. He can sing many English songs. We all like to listen to him singing. His favorite sport is basketball. Mr. Green likes reading. We often borrow（借） books from him. 

When learning English，most people felt uncomfortable about speaking. They could remember lots of words and knew grammar rules，but speaking was difficult. 

Don't worry about making mistakes. Making mistakes is normal when learning a language. Actually，other people will still know your meaning and they probably won't notice your mistakes. 

Use every chance you get to speak.  For example，it's a good idea to use only English in class and not to speak to your classmates in your own language. At home，you should also try practicing new words and grammar learned in class. Think about extra speaking practice outside the classroom. You can join a conversation group，such as the chat groups in the study centre. Or you can go to the English Corner and speak English with others. 

With the development of the Internet，online study provides us with more chances to study English. There are lots of websites where you can communicate with someone from all around the world. 

Be confident to speak aloud. Many people are shy and they can't speak English with confidence. However，language is a tool for us to express and make others understand us. We just need to speak what we want to express，and not take much care about others' opinions. 

Birds are the only animals that have feathers. Feathers are the coat a bird wears on its body，just like the hair most of other kinds of animals wear on their bodies. We，human beings，don't depend on feathers or hair to keep us warm，as birds and animals do，we have our clothes. The feathers and shapes of the birds help us to tell one kind from another. Feathers come in beautiful colors. 

Many birds use colors to hide from enemies（敌人）. This is called camouflage. All birds molt（换毛），but the ptarmigan molts twice a year，changing color to go right for the season. In winter，when snow is on the ground，it has white feathers. In spring，it molts and grows brown feathers that match up with the land，grass，trees or other conditions where it lives. When winter comes，it molts again and grows white feathers. 

Besides feathers，birds can have good voices and are good at singing. Many birds，such as the robin，sing to send messages to other birds. Each type of songbird has its own song. By singing，birds show who they are and where their land is. In spring，many birds sing together loudly at daybreak. The sound they make is known as the dawn chorus，so﹣called"early morning singing of love" by many people in a Chinese yet simpler way.
