Taking notes is an important part of learning. Students listen to the teacher. They write down the important things. Or they use a computer. These days, many students take a computer to class to type their notes.

Some people think that using a computer is better. People type faster than they write. That means if you can type fast enough, you can type every word the teacher says.

Computers are becoming very common in classrooms. Almost every student in university has a computer small enough to take to class in order to type their notes. Fewer students write things down. So now schools are moving away from teaching younger students how to write by hand. Many people see no need for writing by hand.

However, studies suggest that it is good to write things down. When a person can't write every word, they have to think about it more. They have to pick out what is important. And the act of writing seems to help the person to remember. Studies show that people who write down their notes remember the information better.
    A. Circle the right words according to the passage.

Taking notes is an important part of learning. Students take notes by writing down the important words or using a computer. In university classes, it's easy to see students with  (notebooks / computers) for taking notes. These students think they can type faster than they write, so they can  (record/ remember) everything the teacher says. With more and more students typing, teachers are spending less time teaching  (writing / listening) skills. But it may be better for students to write  (by hand / on computers). When they write words, they need to think and (choose/ read) what is important. Students can remember things better that way.
