(曾经) upon a time, there was a farmer. He had two sons. When they were old enough to get (结婚), he told them, "Each of you must cut down a tree. Walk in the direction (方向) it points, and you will meet your future (妻子)."
The elder brother knew whom he wanted to marry, so he did it quickly. Mikko, the younger brother, did not have this skill. His tree (带领) him to the forest. The moon was (照耀) bright. He saw a house and went inside, but the house was empty(空的). "I'll never find my wife," he said.
"Don't be so sure," said a small (声音). Mikko looked around and saw a mouse on the (地面). After talking with the mouse for a while, Mikko thought she was kind and
(勇敢的), and Mikko liked her very much. Mikko brought the mouse home! However, Mikko's brother hated the (愚蠢的) mouse and threw her into the river! Suddenly a beautiful princess came out of the river.
"A witch (巫婆) (欺骗) me and turned me into a mouse," said the princess. "The witch said I could turn back after I met my prince! He was exactly Mikko," the princess said happily.
One beautiful summer morning, a farmer went to check his animal traps. In one trap, he1 a beautiful eagle. At first, he thought that he would kill the eagle and2 it.
But then he thought to3 , "This is a beautiful and4 bird. It often catches rabbits and mice that eat my crops on my land. I'll let it5 . "
