Babies love chocolate and sometimes they also eat the paper around it. My cat enjoys a meal of thick paper, and letters, for example. She doesn't like newspapers very much.

Of course, the best paper comes from wood. Wood comes from trees, and trees are plants. Vegetables and fruit are plants too,and we eat a lot of them. So can we also eat wood and paper?

Scientists say, “All food comes in some way from plants.” Well, is that true? Animals eat grass and grow fat. Then we eat their meat. Little fish eat little sea plants; then bigger fish swim along and eat them. Chickens eat lots of grass and give us meat. Think for a minute. What food does not come from plants in some way?

Scientists can do wonderful things with plants. They can make food just like meat and cheese. And they can make it without the help of animals. Now they begin to say, “We make our paper from wood. We can also make food from wood. The next thing is not very difficult. ”What is the next thing? Perhaps it is food from paper. Scientists say, “We can turn paper into food. It will be good, cheap food too; cheaper than meat, fish or eggs.”

So please keep your old books and letters. Don't feed them to your cat. One day, soon they will be on your plate. There is nothing like a good story for breakfast.

The sixth time I went to the principal's office

When I was in the seventh grade, I had problems behaving. My heart was in the right place. but I couldn't always follow the rules. I played many tricks on schoolmates. Once, I pulled a girl's hair on the school bus to get her attention. As a result, I was repeatedly sent to the office of the principal(校长). Although I hated going there, I did not hate the principal, Mr Ratcliff.

Mr Ratcliff was a kind, elderly man. When he spanked(打 屁股) me for putting some ants into a classmate's pencil box, it didn't hurt at all, but it did hurt my feelings. I thought so much of him and moments like that seemed to prove I was hopelessly bad.

When I got called to Mr Ratcliff's office for the sixth time, I had no idea what I had done.1 felt disappointed as I walked down there. I went into his office, sat down, and looked at the floor. Then he said the last thing I expected to hear “Kevin, I've heard you've been behaving really well lately. I want you to know how proud I am of you, and I just called you down to my office to give you a peppermint (薄荷糖).”

        “Really?” I was surprised.

“Yes. Now you can take that peppermint and go back to class. ”

I carried the peppermint with me as if it was a gold coin. When I got into my classroom, I bragged(吹噓) to my classmates about my turnaround excitedly. I wasn't so bad after all.

Mr Ratcliff was really kind. He made me realize that I was just a kid who had problems with behaviour. He bought some peppermints and took the time to notice me when 1 got something- anything -- right. Mr Ratcliff gave me some hope by giving me some love. I will just remember him for the rest of my life

In China, safety education is becoming more and more important now. The last Monday in March is for students to learn it at school. It helps students learn more about what they should do to keep themselves safe. Take a look.

Stampedes, earthquakes and fires are the main accidents at school.

When students around you begin to push, just stand there and try to hold onto something. If you fall down in the crowd, move to one side and protect your head with your hands around. When earthquakes happen, you can get under a desk quickly and hold on. If you are outdoors, find a place away from buildings, trees, and power lines.

It's better to put something wet over your mouth and nose. In this way, you won't breathe in smoke. Many people die in a fire, not because of the fire but smoke. It makes them cough and they can't breathe. That's very dangerous! So when you want to get out, you should make yourself close to the floor. Then you can breathe some fresh air.
