I wasn't good at maths when I was young. One day, when my second grade teacher Joyce Cooper asked how much eight and seven was in class, I said sixteen. All the other students started laughing when they heard the number. I was very sad and almost cried.

Mrs Cooper looked at them with a stern look. Then she said,"We're all here to learn."And other students stopped suddenly, I thought it was really great to be a teacher.

Another time, Mrs Cooper asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. I wrote,"I want to be a teacher like Mrs Cooper."

She wrote on my report,"You would be a good teacher because you try hard."I remember these words until now.

When I grew up, I found a job as a teacher. One day, I wrote a sentence with some mistakes(错误) in it on the blackboard. Then I asked students to come and correct the mistakes.

A girl tried but she failed. She began to cry when she heard the other children laughing. I gave her a hug(拥抱) and told her to get a drink of water. Then, remembering Mrs Cooper, I looked at the rest of the class with a serious look."We're all here to learn," I said.

When Joe's children grew up and moved to different cities, he still lived in a small village. He had four grandchildren and they often visited him during their holidays.

It was the vacation(假期) time and Joe was waiting for them to arrive. He was preparing their favourite food and cleaning the house. However, he lost his watch when he was busy. The next day, he was very sad. He said,"Dear children, I lost the most important watch. Your grandma gave it to me."

The children looked for it everywhere in the house for more than two hours, but they didn't find it. So Joe asked the children to stop looking for it.

One of his grandsons sat there quietly. The other children reached him and asked him what was going on. He asked them not to make any noise. He sat there for about 15 minutes and then found the watch. He ran to his grandfather with the watch. Joe was surprised and asked how he was able to find it. The little boy replied,"I sat there without making any noise. After a few minutes, I heard the sound of the watch." Joe hugged and thanked the little boy.

Hello! I'm Li Ming. When I was a little boy, I lived with my grandparents in a small but beautiful (村庄). It's in the (东部) of China. There was only one (初级的) school. And there weren't many teachers. Ms Wang was one of them. She taught us English. She was (友好的) and many students liked her..

But at that time, I didn't like English because I thought it was (难的). During the class, I usually felt 

 (厌烦的). Ms Wang gave me a hand. Sometimes, she gave classes in the (花园) or near the  (海岸). These beautiful things made me (舒服的) during the class time, so I learned quickly and happily.

Thanks to Ms Wang, I started to like English. Now I am an English teacher in a middle school. (最近过去的) year, I went back to see Ms Wang and we had a great time.

After class, we have less homework now, so we can go to the library to read English books, magazines and newspapers. We can also surf the Internet for useful information.

In a word, we enjoy the new ways of learning. We can make more progress in our study.

At a small restaurant in Beijing, we can see an English man. He is teaching people how to cook Western(西方的)food. The man is Jamie Bilbow. He opened Rice Kitchen eight years ago. He has an interesting Chinese name "Dami". It means rice in Chinese.

Jamie was born on September 9th, 1988. He moved(搬家)to Hong Kong with his parents at the age of 1. He lived in the city for almost 18 years. He began to cook when he was six years old. Then cooking became a very important thing in his life.

In 2011, Jamie came to Beijing and became a cook. At first, he sold his food on the street. Then one year later, he had his Rice Kitchen.

Jamie's Chinese is very good, and in 2019, he hosted(主持)a TV programme Granny Know us Best. In the programme, he went to eight cities and learned to cook Chinese food from sixteen grandmas. The programme is great, and we can watch it on TV.
