    Today is Mother's Day. My brother, Tom, and I want to g Mum some nice presents. In the morning, we go to the shop. Tom b a big cake. There are some w on it. They are “Happy Mother's Day”. I buy some f  because Mum likes fruit very much. At about ten, we get h Tom goes into the kitchen(厨房) to c a big dinner and I go into my room to m a card. At about five o'clock in the a , the door opens, and Mum c in. Tom and I say, “Happy Mother's Day!" Mum is very surprised(惊讶的) to see these presents. How h we are!

    Today is Alice's 13th birthday. Her parents hold(举办) a party for her. A lot of friends come to her home. She is happy to meet them. They bring lots of presents for Alice: A birthday cake, some nice cards, books, pens, clothes and so on. And they say “Happy Birthday!" to Alice. Alice is very happy and says, “Dear friends, thank you very much for coming to my birthday party.” Then they sit down and talk. Alice's mother cooks a big lunch. The food is very nice. They all like it very much. After lunch they sing, play games and eat the big birthday cake.' They have a good time. At 5:00 in the afternoon, Alice's friends say goodbye to her and go back home.

    Mike is a boy from Beijing. He likes the summer holiday(暑假). The summer holiday is coming.

    Mike's mother is planning a trip to Hong Kong with her son, because Mike's aunt lives there. They are going there by air. As usual, Mike' 's mother should prepare(准备) some presents.

    Mike's aunt likes eating dumplings and she also likes listening to music. She is a secretary(秘书) in a big company.

    Mike's cousin is a student at a senior high school(高中). He is in the school football team. He is a football fan. He wants to be a player like David Beckham. David Beckham is the most famous football player in England.

    Mike's uncle is an interesting man. He doesn't like smoking or drinking wine. His hobby is cooking. He is a cook in a big hotel.

    This Sunday, Mike's mother will go to the supermarket and buy something for them. They think they will have a good trip. Good luck!

    People in different countries celebrate(庆祝) their birthdays in different ways.

    Sandy Morrison comes from Madrid(马德里). She says happily, “My twenty-first birthday is on a Saturday, and I'm going out with some friends. To wish me a happy birthday, they are going to pull(拉) on my ear twenty one times, once for each year. ”

    Mr and Mrs Sato are from Tokyo. Mr Sato is going to be sixty tomorrow. In Japan, the sixtieth birthday is called Kanreki- it's the beginning of a new life. The colour red is for a new life.

    Li Xiaomei from Beijing feels very excited and tells us, “Tomorrow is my sixteenth birthday. We're going to have a family party. I'm probably going to get some money in lucky envelopes(信封) from my relatives. ”

    Phillip Evans, from Paris, smiles, “I'm going to be thirty next week, so I'm going to invite three very good friends out for dinner. ”

Tony: Today is my sister's birthday. She is 13 years old.

Lily: OK.

Tony: What? Can you make a cake?
