Have you ever read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone? It is one of the most  books for almost all the children in the world.

The idea for the book came to J.K. Rowling in 1990. It  her seven years to finish writing it. During those seven years she had a number of jobs, for , being an English teacher in Portugal. Rowling sent the book to four publishers (出版商) before one of them  it. She was very  to sell her book because it was her dream to be a writer.

Is Web design all about computer programming? No. It's about making something new. Web designers must imagine a lot when they are making a website. It must look good and be fun to use. A big part of Web design is art. They choose the best pictures and colors to make the website look good. They also write the things that you see on the website. An important part of their job is to share ideas with the website manager about how to design the website well.

The next time you are out walking your dog, be sure to keep your eyes on the ground. Maybe you can find some treasures. That is exactly what happened to a California couple who recently happened to find the most valuable ancient gold in North America.

John and Mary, a couple, lived in Northern California's Gold Country. One day they were walking their dog along the road as usual. However, this time around, John noticed a rusty bottle sticking out(凸出) from the ground. They decided to take a closer look, and then they unearthed it with a stick and took it home.

The can(罐) was very heavy, making the couple guess that it was filled with paint(油漆). However, when John opened it and saw the side of a shiny coin, he knew he had found gold!

The couple immediately returned to the area with a small shovel to see if there were any more bottles to be found. Sure enough, they found one more. This one had broken and scattered(散开) all its treasures into the ground below. And that was not all—over the next few days the couple found six more in the area.

According to the dates of the coins, as well as, the condition of the metal cans, experts believe that the gold was buried(埋) sometime in the late 19th century, right after the California's Gold Rush. John thought that the can that was sticking out, was a mark for whoever buried the treasure there—For reasons that nobody will ever know, he/she never returned to get it back.

About 470 pilot whales（巨头鲸）have been beached in Tasmania in Australia. This has been the （large）whale-beaching event in Tasmania since 1935. People are working hard （save）the whales.

Every year, around 2,000 large sea animals, such as dolphins and whales, die by （swim） onto a beach or into water that's too shallow（浅的）for （they）to swim away. This （know）as "beaching". Pilot whales and killer whales are some of the most commonly beached whales.

Rescue workers are trying to "refloat（使……再浮起）" the whales so they can swim away. The job is （especial）challenging because the whales are so large. Pilot whales can grow up to 7 meters long and can weigh up to 2,300 kg.

The rescue teams, numbering about 60 people, include （volunteer）, the police and workers from the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service.

So far, around 25 whales have been rescued. Since  rescued whales will return to the place again where others are still in trouble, workers are trying to make sure that rescued whales don't get beached again.

Dr Carlyon from the rescue team says the cool, wet weather has helped keep the whales alive. He describes the weather as "pretty ugly out there for people on the ground,  as far as the whales go, it's perfect".

About 90 whales （die）so far. Rescue efforts are likely to continue for a few more days.
