Studying longer does not necessarily mean studying better. Below are some great ways of learning as much as you can without getting too stressed.

Find the right place to study.

The first thing you need to do is avoid distractions (分散注意力的事物) while studying. You should keep away from television sets and phone calls. Get all of your study materials together, so you will not be interrupted in the middle of your session.

Break down the tasks into smaller parts.

When you have gotten everything ready, list the items you need to study, and arrange them across several hours or days, depending on how big your load is. As a general rule, assign (分配) at least one hour to each subject. By doing this, you will be able to know more easily how long you need for each topic.

        Schedule study breaks.

When you have listed all of your tasks and made a schedule, you should arrange (安排) study breaks. This will give your eyes some time to rest, and yourself a chance to go to the bathroom or have some coffee. Scheduled breaks will reduce the need for you to interrupt yourself to the lowest level during the study session.

Put your tasks in order of importance.

Just in case you run out of time to study, or if you think you do not have enough time to cover all topics, you should study in an order.

    A. Each break may take about 15 minutes every two hours.

    B. Learn to arrange the subjects in order of importance.

    C. This means going to one place that will give you peace and quiet.

    D. The key to efficient studying is following the schedule strictly.

    E. You can find a way to test your knowledge by having a study partner.

    F. If you have a broad subject, you will need to break it down into smaller parts.

    G. To make the best use of your time, you need to learn how to study efficiently (高效地).

In a time when ivory poaching(偷猎)has gotten so bad that it threatens to wipe out several animal species, a young Dutch designer is creating "egalitarian(平等主义)jewelry" made of our very own ivory—teeth.

Lucie Majerus got the idea for her "human ivory" collection after having her wisdom teeth removed. She kept them and soon realized they would make great material for a jewelry collection. "Why wouldn't we value our own material instead of the precious material from other species? And what if we mine our own ivory and turn it into pearls?" she asks.

Her own teeth became a ring, but in order to create a whole collection, she needed more material, and since having more of her teeth removed wasn't a very pleasant choice, she asked her dentist to save his patients' unwanted teeth. Most people choose not to keep their pulled teeth, so they are usually donated to dentistry schools. Majerus also received the lost teeth of two of her teachers at Design Academy Eindhoven, so she had a nice supply of human ivory to experiment with.

To turn human teeth into attractive pieces of jewelry, Lucie Majerus first bleaches(漂白)them, and then uses a stone polishing machine to shape the teeth into various shapes.

Majerus displayed her human ivory jewelry collection at this year's Dutch Design Week, and claims that people's reaction was mostly positive." Surprisingly, most people aren't frightened at the sight of the jewelry, but really like the idea, "Majerus told Fast Co Design." Some regret that they didn't keep their tooth at the dentist and some, who will have teeth taken out soon, are now looking forward to it. "

    1. (1) When did Majerus get the idea of collecting human ivory?
    2. (2) Seeing Majerus' human ivory jewelry collection, most people felt________.
    3. (3) It can be inferred from the text that________.

On Sunday, the second day of Spring Festival, a man was killed after he fell into the tiger enclosure while trying to get into the zoo in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, without paying for a ticket.

The tragedy cost two lives, as the tiger was shot dead when zoo employees tried to rescue the man.

As news of the incident spread, the majority of voices online blamed the dead man for the animal's death. Some said this was a sign that people are becoming more coldhearted. But they are wrong. People have been displaying increasingly more enthusiasm for helping those in need and participating in charity work. In 2016, the China Charity Federation received donations of 18. 8 billion yuan ($2. 7 billion)in total, 46 percent more than the donations received in 2015, and they sent helping hands to one tragedy after another.

People are just tired of forgiving those in the wrong. While sympathy is right, it has been abused too much. When somebody commits a crime, no matter how cruel the crime is, media outlets explain the criminal's miserable childhood and there are calls for forgiveness. When someone smokes in public, there are always people calling for tolerance.

People are fed up and angry with lawbreakers escaping their due punishments in the name of forgiveness and tolerance.

But going back to the tragedy at the wildlife park in Ningbo, the tiger's death shows the park was not well prepared for such emergencies. They did not have any tranquilizer guns that could sedate the tiger immediately and save the lives of both the man and the endangered animal.

In the meantime, it is necessary to raise people's awareness that the animals in zoos and wildlife parks are not domesticated pets, and of the need for visitors to observe rules for their own safety.

The man in the Ningbo incident paid for his fault with his life, but the tiger was killed for his fault, too. We sincerely hope no more tigers or humans will pay for such fault.

It's hard to avoid looking like a fool on April Fool's Day. On April 1 each year, people play tricks on each other. These tricks are usually silly rather than mean. Classmates sometimes tie each other's shoelaces to their chairs. Teachers might hand out an impossibly difficult surprise test that scares students before they realize it's only a joke. Newspapers announce fake contests (such as "Win an elephant!") and report on fake stories (like "UFO" lands in New York City).

Forget gifts, songs and special foods—those are for the other holidays of the year. On April Fool's Day, the only tradition is to laugh (and maybe to cause a little bit of trouble).

One April Fool's Day, when I was in high school, a group of students in my class played a very clever and funny trick on the teachers. They bought some chickens and set them free in our school cafeteria. The chickens ran all round the school, in and out of classrooms and under our feet. Feathers were flying everywhere.

Teachers began running after the chickens, trying to catch them. Finally, they caught four of them. But the chickens were wearing numbered tags (商标) around their necks, and the teachers discovered that they had only caught chickens NO. 1, 2, 3, and 5. Where was chicken No. 4?

The teachers looked and looked. They couldn't find another chicken. After a few hours, they realized that the students had played another joke on them: There were only four chickens in the first place! They've been tricked by the numbers on the chickens.

It's been a long time since I was in high school, but that April Fool's Day remains one of my favorite memories from those years.

    1. (1) What can we infer from the first paragraph on April Fool's Day?
    2. (2) Why did students set chickens free?
    3. (3) How many jokes did the students play on teachers?
    4. (4) What's the title of the passage?

People were born in all shapes and sizes, colors and races. Some speak differently while others act differently.

My mother is in a wheelchair. I would like to say something about this special woman I call "Mommy".

My mom does what a mom needs to do every day. She picks me up from school, drives me to meetings, cooks dinner, and helps me with my homework. This is just part of what makes her great, though.

She is my best friend and can immediately notice when I am unhappy. She helps me solve problems that my friends do not understand. Mommy makes me laugh when times are tough. I look forward to coming home because I know there is someone there who cares about what I have done.

Mommy has always tried to be like a "normal" mom. But I think my mother is a wonderful woman and she doesn't need to change. She teaches me life lessons that no teachers or friends can. She shows me how to accept everyone for what is inside, rather than what is on the outside.

You may have realized that all the qualities I admire have nothing to do with what she looks like. Everyone could be the way she is, but most are not.

I want everyone to look beyond the surface and see what is inside others. You may fail to notice someone who is very special like my mom because you cannot accept their outside features.
