Do you or someone you know use a mobile phone?
In today's world, many people use a mobile phone especially businessmen and businesswomen. These people are an important part of the business world and help our economies develop. In fact, in some countries even children and the elderly use mobile phones to keep in touch with family and friends.
We know how useful it is to have a mobile phone, but do we know how safe these phones are? Some scientists say that mobile phones could be a risk to our health. So, money is being given to scientific research to find out if mobile phones may be harmful in any way.
What does the future look like? Is a hands-free phone the answer? The idea behind hands-free sets is simple and maybe they are a safer way for people to communicate. The hands-free set has a piece in your ear and a microphone near your mouth which is connected to a wire that goes into your phone. Some scientists think this is a much safer way to use a phone. Some scientists have proved that a mobile phone 10 centimetres from your head is far safer than if the headset is right against your ear. Some reports say that hands-free sets have 95% less radiation exposure, while other reports say that hands-free sets expose you to more radiation.
Governments and the mobile phone industry are researching the effects, including the effects of radio waves on blood pressure and the brain, such as the abilities to concentrate, remember and learn the connections between mobile phone use and brain cancer long-term effects of mobile phone use, looking at health histories of people who have used mobiles since the 1980s
They will be looking at both current mobile phones and the new generation of 4G phones. The results from these studies will help us understand more about the world beyond mobile communications.
Wouldn't it be strange if scientists discovered that mobile phones were too dangerous and we had to stop using them and go back to writing letters and using the normal telephones?
A Colourful World
Mr Longman and Mr Martin were both badly ill . Mr Longman was able to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon. His bed was next to the only window of the room. Mr Martin had to spend all his time lying on his back. So they talked for hours without stopping. .
And every afternoon when Mr Longman could sit up in his bed, he would talk about all the things that he could see outside the window. Mr Martin believed that his world was made "larger" by the "colourful" outside world. Out of the window it was a park with a lovely lake. Mr Longman told Mr Martin about the beautiful ducks swimming freely on the water, happy children playing around, colourful flowers and big old trees around the lake. , Mr Martin closed his eyes and tried to make the richest pictures for himself in his mind.
Days and weeks passed. Mr Longman got better. . Then Mr Martin asked the nurse if he could move to the other bed. Happily for him, the nurse said he could. When everything was done, he tried hard to raise himself a bit to see what was outside. , to his surprise, he saw nothing but a wall,
Mr Martin asked the nurse what made Mr Longman able to see so many wonderful things outside. The nurse answered that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.

Waste can be seen everywhere in the school. Some students ask for1food than they can eat and others often forget2off the lights when they leave the classroom. They say they can afford these things. But I don't agree3them.
Waste can bring a lot of problems.4China is rich in some resources, we are short of others, for example, fresh water. It is5that we will have no coal or oil to use in 100 years. So if we go on6our resources, what can we use in the future and7can we move? Think about it. I think we should say no to the8who waste things every day. Everybody should stop wasting as soon as possible.
In our9life, we can do many things to prevent waste from happening, for example, turn off the water taps when we finish washing, turn off the lights when we leave the classroom, try not to order more food than we need, and so on. Little by little, everything will be changed. Waste can be stopped one day, if we do10best.
Have you ever heard of e-waste, which can be produced every day? How do you deal with your computers, MP4 players and mobile phones when they're broken or you want a new one?
Most people just throw them away. With the development of electric industry, e-waste pollution has become a serious problem. According to the United Nations, in 2014, people around the world produced 41. 8 million tons of e-waste and only recycled 6. 5 million tons. The US was the biggest waster, producing 7.1 million tons. China came second, with 6 million tons,
It's important to pay attention to e-waste. It can either be valuable or harmful, depending on how we deal with it. E-waste is a valuable urban mine. The value of the metals, like gold and silver in the waste around the world, is amazing. And the metals can be reused. But if people throw them away, the toxic chemicals can get into the earth or air, affecting the environment and people's health.
Apple, for example, now reycle people's used products in China when they are buying new ones. The company will test and repair the used ones and sell them at lower prices. To help reduce e-waste, we can also take computers and phones to see if companies offer recycling programmes.
