Good morning, everyone,
I am Li Hua from Xingguang Middle School. The topic of my speech is “Let's Ride Bicycles”.
On a hot summer day, my friend Kathy and I drove slowly towards Indiana to our friend's house. After two hours' driving, we stopped before a parking lot to order coffee there. “It's my treat,” I said, trying to find my purse in the back seat, but it wasn't there. I knew it could easily slip under a seat, so I searched around. But nothing was found. At last I remembered I had left my purse on the roof of the car, in the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot. I panicked and was sure that my credit cards had already gone. But something told me to call the Dunkin' Donuts just in case.
“Oh thank goodness,” the clerk said when I called. “We were going through your purse, trying to find a way to get in touch with you. Someone found your purse lying in the parking lot and turned it in.” Refusing any kind of reward, the shop owner express-mailed it to our friend's home.
A few years later, on a snowy Minnesota winter night, my car suddenly broke down and I had to walk home. Before leaving my car, I remembered my purse was still in my pocket. But when I got home, it wasn't there. I searched again around the seats but my purse didn't appear. Had I lost my purse again? Knowing my good fortune might not repeat itself, I called the credit card company and my bank to freeze my accounts.
But the next morning I got a call. “Is this Heidi Grosch? We found your purse lying on the ground.” Again, everything was there and the finder refused to accept any payment.
I will always be grateful to those who are kind to restore my purse.

One of my favorite comedian is George Burns. George began to work in theaters in 1906. In 1923 he started a comedy team with a woman named Gracie, that later became his wife. They were both became big stars, first on the stage and then on radio and TV. However, when Gracie had to stop his work in 1958 because of illness, George nearly disappeared from view.
Then in 1975, George won a Academy Award for his excellent performance in a film called “The Sunshine Boys”. Not had seen his previous work, millions of young men still became his fans. Everyone had great affection to this little man with a cigar. George stayed very actively when he was in his 90s. He even promised to give a special concert on his 100th birthday. However, in 1994, he fall in the bathtub and hurt himself. After that, his health never recovered. In 1996, the news he passed away made millions of Americans sad.

The winter holiday is coming. As middle school students, my best friend Li Ming and I are going to do something meaningful.……
As I begin to tell my friends about the seven days you treated my wife, Laura, in what turned out to be the last days of her young life, they stop me at about the 15th name that I recall. The list includes the doctors, nurses, social workers, and even cleaning staff members who cared for her.
“How do you remember any of their names?” they ask.
“How could I not?” I respond.
Every single one of you treated Laura with such professionalism and kindness and dignity as she lay unconscious. When she needed shots, you apologized that it was going to hurt a little, whether or not she could hear. When you listened to her heart and lungs through your stethoscopes(听诊器)and her gown (长衫)began to slip, you pulled it up to respectfully cover her. You spread a blanket when the room was just a little cold and you thought she'd sleep more comfortably that way.
You cared so greatly for her parents, helping them climb into the room's awkward recliner(躺椅), fetching them fresh water almost by the hour, and answering every one of their medical questions with patience.
Then there was how you treated me. How many times did you walk into the room to find me sobbing, my head down and resting on her hand, and quietly go about your task, as if willing yourselves invisible? How many times did you help me set up the recliner as close as possible to her bedside? How many times did you check on me to see whether I needed anything, from food to drink, from fresh clothes to a hot shower.
Really, I have all of you to thank for it with my eternal gratitude and love.
