Benjamin: John, you were announced as one of the winners of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. How are you feeling now?
John: I'm very grateful to have that honour, but I'm the same person as I was before.
Benjamin: Well, at 97 you are the oldest Nobel winner. Somebody tells me that you're still in the lab every day researching and working. Is that true?
John: Yes, I'm still working. What should I do? Should I just retire (退休) and wait to die? No, I don't think so,
Benjamin: Before, did you think that your research would lead to where you are now?
John: No, I really didn't. I couldn't predict(预测) it. But I'm very pleased that it's useful for society.
Benjamin: What questions are left to answer for lithium-ion batteries, as you can see?
John: How do you make them safer? How do you make them last longer? I know that we live in a throwaway society and people don't want things to last too long, but I like to make things with a long life: I think we need to protect Mother Earth.

What can we do to improve our online studies?
Make sure of a good connection To me, the biggest headache about studying online is the poor quality (质量) of my Internet connection. During one of my online classes, I couldn't hear my English teacher's voice and I had to reconnect. It wasted lots of time. Since then, I have checked my network before class every day and asked other family members not to use the Internet while I' m having a class. Zhao Yuchen, 13, Beijing |
▲ Studying at home has made it hard for me to plan my time. Planning ahead and creating a study calendar is very important. You need to count how much time each task will take, reviewing your texts, asking questions and taking notes, and making a to-do list for your homework. These are all good ways to help us learn better online. Lin Xiyu, 14, Shanghai |
No distractions(分心) Online learning takes strong self-discipline( 自律). There are lots of distractions while studying at home, My mum likes to offer me snacks and drinks. I have asked her to stop interrupting( 打断) me while I'm studying. A quiet room and clean desk can help us concentrate(集中注意力). Zhang Penghui, 15, Heilongjiang |
