Anybody who has lost a loved one knows how comforting it is to have something of theirs close by. No matter how hard we try and hold on to the precious moments created with our loved ones, they have passed away.
That's why Mary of Scotland has made it her mission to comfort heartbroken individuals by transforming their items into special keepsakes (纪念品).
The 21-year-old is studying fashion technology at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and planned to work in the bridal industry. Sharing the memory bears was nowhere near her original career plan.
"I made my first memory bear five years ago as a favor for a friend, and was constantly asked to make more, but turned them down because I wanted to concentrate on university and a career in the bridal industry.
But I finally gave in to requests for bears and once I uploaded photos to my page demand just exploded — so at the moment I'm fully committed to making them," she recalls.
Before long, Mary had so many customers that she was able to set up a business, for which she received a Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2016.
"No matter how sad the stories are, I know my work is incredibly important. It's really a privilege to be asked to create something from people's personal possessions," she says.
