Do you like going for a vacation? Yes? But you can't leave your study or work.
1 , there is another kind of vacation. It is a mental (精神的) vacation.2 can we have a mental vacation? It is not difficult at all. Here are some ways.
Reading a book in bed is a great way and it can make you feel relaxed, and be ready to face the things that are outside your 3 door. Your bed is a warm, comfortable and quiet place for you. Getting lost in a good book is a 4 way to forget your problems.
5 is also a kind of vacation. To make it more enjoyable, 6 you go to bed at night, think about the things you enjoyed in the past or about the things you want. Don't think about bad or unhappy things.
Look out of the window. 7 a cup of coffee or tea, close the door and take a mental rest. You can make8 day dream a bit. You can watch some people walking around, and enjoy birds, trees and clouds for a few 9 .
All in all, a mental vacation gives you a rest from work or studies, and also makes you forget your problems, just like a 10 vacation. So next time, if you want to relax but you don't have enough time or money, please try these ways.
Larry was a funny student. He loved watching comedies best and hoped (be) a comedy actor one day.
There was talent show at school and Larry wanted to join the show. But one of his classmates said to him(loud), "You are not funny at all. You can't be a (win)." Hearing this, Larry was so sad he sat in his seat quietly. When his teacher heard about this, she encouraged him to prepare for the show, " You are good telling jokes. We all like your jokes. You are (funny) in our class. Believe in(you)." At last, Larry joined theshow and did a great job. Everyone loved his acting, and he (become) the first!
To make his dream come true, he practiced much (hard) than before. Now Larry is a great comedy actor. Lots of people love him and his comedies.
Language students often think they have memory (记忆) problems. They worry because they can't remember words. In fact, the problem usually isn't with their memory. The problem is with how they study. In my opinion, using a right way is the most important.
To remember words better, you need to understand how memory works. There are two kinds of memory: short-term and long-term. When you see, hear or read something, it goes first into short-term memory. But short-term memory lasts for only a few seconds, that means we will forget things soon in short-term memory. You will only remember something longer if it goes into long-term memory. Your long-term memory is like a very big library with many, many books. And like a library, it's organized. When you put away (放好,储存) a book or memory, you can't just leave it____anywhere. You have to choose a place where you can find it again.
How can you do this with vocabulary? The answer is to work with the word and think about the word in new ways. You can do this by writing new sentences with the word in it. Even better, you can invent a little story about the word, with people or places that you know. Another way is to make a picture in your mind with the word. For example, if the word is "height", you can think of the tallest person you know and try to guess his or her height. All of these activities are good ways to think about words. They make the meaning of words stronger in your long-term memory. And they give a way to find a word when you need it.
This is my idea about how to improve ways to remember words, and I hope it can help you.

Jogging is good for us and helps us live longer and healthier. It's easy to do and free. You do not have to spend money jogging. You can do it in a park or even in your home. But many people find it boring after jogging for a while. Then how can we keep jogging fun? Here are some ideas to make your jogging more interesting.
First, you should choose to wear your favorite sports clothes and shoes when you jog. They make you more comfortable.
Second, always jog outdoors. By changing(改变) your route, you can choose another street, and you will always have something interesting to enjoy when you jog.
Third, take your MP3 player with you and listen to your favorite songs when you jog. The music can make you excited and run further without feeling bored.
At last, it's always more enjoyable with a friend. Make friends while jogging. Join a running club, find a new running partner, or invite an old friend to go jogging. It's better to find a friend who runs a little faster than you. Then you can try to follow him or her.
How do people find their inner talent? Gillian Lynne showed a good example.
Gillian Lynne never did well in school as a child. She couldn't sit for a long time and often found herself moving restlessly(不安地). Her mother was quite worried about her. She took Lynne to a doctor. For 20 minutes, she talked about the problems Lynne was having in school. Then, the doctor said to Lynne, "I need to speak to your mother first. Wait here."
As they left the room, the doctor turned on the radio. He then said to Lynne's mother, "Just stand and watch her." The minute they left the room, Lynne was on her feet, dancing to the music on the radio.
The doctor then turned to Lynne's mother and said, "Mrs Lynne, your daughter isn't sick(生病的). She is a dancer. Take her to a dance school. Let her show her talent."
So she did. Lynne's new dance school was full of people just like her——people who had to move in order to think. Lynne later went to the Royal Ballet School(皇家芭蕾学校), one of the world's greatest dance schools, and became a great dancer.
After leaving the school, she worked on some of the greatest musicals in history and she became famous. It is hard to believe that years ago, somebody else would just put her on medication(药物治疗).
①Lynne went to the Royal Ballet School.
②Lynne did badly at school when she was a child.
③Lynne was famous.
④The doctor advised Lynne's mother to take her to a dance school.
Living and dealing with kids can be a tough job these days, but living and dealing with parents can be even 1 . Since I was a teenager, I 2 that communication is very important, both when you disagree and when you get along. With any relationship, you need to let 3 people know your feelings. If you are not able to communicate, things 4 become bad. When you are mad at your parents, not talking to them doesn't solve anything. If you look 5 the word "communication" in a dictionary, it will say "the exchange of ideas and information." 6 a good relationship, you must keep communication strong. Let people know how you feel, even if it's just by 7 a note. You have to make your parents8 good about how they are doing as a parent. If you are trying to make them see something as you see it, tell them that you'll listen to what they say, but ask them 9 to listen to you. 10 away only makes the situation worse.
This is 11 example. One night, Sophie went to a street party with her friends. She knew she had to be home by midnight after the fireworks, but she felt 12 would be rude of her to ask to go home first. As a result, she was late getting home. Her parents were angry at first, but when Sophie explained 13 she was late, they weren't so mad. Communication is the key factor here.
Problems can only 14 with communication. Just remember, 15 you get into a situation like Sophie's, tell your parents how you feel.
The best way to learn a new l is to make friends with native(本地的) speakers. Julia is from the UK. She had d speaking Chinese when she came to China at first. In order to r her spirits, they organized parties for her. So Julia had chances to p speaking Chinese. Friendship brought Julia much joy. The ability to speak Chinese brought her much courage in a new life.
At the shopping mall, you probably think about spending, not saving. Think about all the water faucets (水龙头) in the toilet. Think about all the air conditioning in summer. Saving energy is a hot topic for such a big place!
Electric lights, infrared (红外感应) faucets and air-conditioners need electricity to work. More and more dust and dirt make the lights less bright. When malls keep lights clean, they can use fewer lights and keep the area just as bright.
You step up to the water faucet. The water starts to flow. You don't have to touch a thing. Why do malls have such fancy faucets? The answer is simple. They save water. Infrared faucets turn themselves off.
A.Many things at the mall use energy.
B.Using fewer lights means using less energy.
C.Sometimes people forget to turn the water off after they wash.
D.Think about all the lights that keep the mall bright.
E.One way to save energy is by keeping lights clean.
In the summer between my first year and second year in college, I was invited to be an instructor(辅导员) at a high school camp. On the first day, when we were dancing and playing games, I noticed a boy under the tree who was small and thin. His shyness made him appear weak. I walked towards him, introduced myself and invited him to join in the activities and meet some new people. He quietly replied, "No, I really don't want to do this."I could understand that he was in a new world but I knew it wouldn't be right to force him, either. Actually, the boy didn't need a close talk but a friend.
At lunch the next day, I was leading camp songs when 1 saw the boy under the tree sitting alone. I tried again with the same invitation, but he refused once again. That evening I was told the boy's name was Tommy. Then I asked the campers to pay special attention to the boy and spend time with him when they could.
The days went by and the time came when we had to leave. We held a big, warm party to celebrate the closing of the camp. All the campers shared their wonderful moments. To my surprise, I found the boy from under the tree dancing joyfully with two girls. I couldn't believe it was the same person.
In October of my second year, I received a phone call from Tommy's mother. She told me that Tommy was hit by a car and killed. I offered my deep sadness. The mother said:"Tommy mentioned you so many times. I want you to know that he went back to school and made new friends with confidence. You made a difference for Tommy during his last months."
At that moment, I realized how easy it was to give a bit of yourself every day. You may never know how much each gesture may mean to someone else. I hope that everyone can pay attention to their own "boy under the tree".
①The boy danced joyfully with two girls.
②The boy went back to school and made new friends.
③The boy refused to join in the activities.
④The boy's mother made a phone call to the writer.
