Han Hong is  famous singer in China. She is always ready to help those in need. 

In 2008, Han put on a charity performance for Wenchuan, Sichuan Province, after a great earthquake. After that, she set  her foundation (基金会)—Han Hong Love Charity Foundation on May 9, 2012.

Every year, she put  (she) into the volunteer work of helping those in need. She  (raise) much money for them, sometimes, she also sings in order to cheer them up. Now more and more volunteers, including doctors, nurses, teachers and other loving people, join the group. Wherever there are  (difficult), they go to give the people a hand. When Han Hong sees smiles on their faces, she always has a strong feeling of  (satisfy). 

In 2020, a terrible disease (疾病) called COVID-19 broke out in Wuhan. She organized to donate for people in Wuhan instead of  (put) on a concert in Wuhan on February 29th. She kept working for many days and she  (fall) ill at last. She did  many great things for Wuhan that she became one of the most admirable (令人尊重的) artists. 

"Many great artists in the world are known for their great love. That's the amazing thing about human nature," Han said. We believe those poor people will become  (happy) than before. 

Sometimes it seems that time is flying. Perhaps it doesn't need to feel this way. Our experience of time can be1 changed. How can we 2 time? Here are two suggestions.

Firstly, since we know that being in familiar situations makes 3 pass faster, we can make ourselves have as many new experiences as possible. We can give ourselves new challenges, meet new people, and keep our minds 4 to new information, hobbies and skills. This will5 the amount of information our minds do with and expand(增加) our experience of time.

Secondly, we can give our whole attention to an experience—to 6 we are seeing, feeling, tasting, smelling or hearing. This means living through our 7 rather than through our thoughts. For example, on the way home, focus your attention outside of yourself, instead of thinking about the problems you have to8 . Look at the sky, or at the buildings you pass, traveling among them. This open idea to your experiences helps take in more 9 and also has a time—expanding effect.

To a certain degree, we can understand and 10 our experience of time passing. It's possible for us to slow down time by expanding our experience of time.

I'm forty. I left school 22 years ago. I don't regret many things about my school days but there are a few things I wish I'd known earlier as a girl. So here is my list of three things I'd learned at school.

□As a young child you try many new things. If you fail, you try again until you learn. Then you start school where you are usually only praised for doing things correctly. So what happens? You stop trying new things in case you get it wrong. I always remind myself: I won't give up halfway until I make it.

□I always wanted to be the best and one way of feeling good about myself was to see how much better I was than others. There was only one problem with this. When I saw they were better than me, I felt terrible. Now I compare me with myself. I asked myself if I did things as well as I could.

□How much time do you spend worrying about the future? I used to worry a lot. Now I know most things you fear usually never happen. If they happen, then they will most often not be as bad as you expected. In 6 months you probably won't remember most of the things you worry about now.

The kites in Weifang never disappoint. Every year the Weifang International Kite Festival amazes visitors with creative kites, as "paper birds" of varied designs keep appearing in the sky.

Kites in China can originate from the Warring States Period when Mozi made the first "wooden kite". Kites didn't actually become popular until the Ming Dynasty. By the middle of the Qing Dynasty, artists who were good at kite making began to appear in Weifang. In 1984, the first Weifang International Kite Festival was held.

Kites were used in China during the wars at the very beginning. For example, they can be used to record wind readings, similar to ship flags at sea. Over time, kites became connected with relaxing activities, and were often flown during festivals and holidays.

Today, kite-flying is a popular activity in China, and the Weifang International Kite Festival is one of the largest kite festivals in the world. In 2024, 622 kite artists from 59 countries and areas took part in the event. Zhang Xiaodong,74, has attended all the festivals. In the early days, he only brought traditional kites to take part in the competitions, but this time, he used sound and light to make the story of Chang'e flying to the moon come "alive".

The festival is a great platform to share kite-making skills. It also brings the people of China and other countries closer. As one citizen put it, "No matter how far away kite lovers go, there is always a 'thread' in their heart that can pull them together."

I think the most basic way to connect with others is to listen. Perhaps, the most important thing we give each other is our attention. When people are talking,there is no need to do anything but receive them and take them in. Listen to what they are saying. In most cases, listening is more important than understanding. It takes me a long time to believe in the power of simple saying"I'm sorry."One of my patients told me that when she tried to tell her story, people often broke her off. Finally, she stopped talking to most people. When we stop what some one is saying to let him or her know that we understand, we move attention to ourselves. Ihave learned to do with someone's crying by just listening to him or her. I used to pass them the paper. I realized that it might be just another way to calm them down. When they cried, they find me there with them. I used to think that people were very great if they were willing to listen only even if they did not know the answer. But now I know ____.

In 2004, Zhang Guimei saw a girl sitting silently on the side of a road on a cold morning, with a broken basket at her side.

Zhang, a local high school teacher, asked what was wrong. The girl told Zhang that she wanted to go to school, but her family was too poor to afford it. Zhang went to the 14-year-old girl's home and advised her parents to allow their daughter to continue schooling. However, they finally refused her. Unable to help, Zhang left. With the teenager always on her mind, Zhang was trying to work out how to help the local girls.

She came up with the idea of building a girls-only high school where students wouldn't have to pay anything. In 2007, Zhang attended an important meeting. She spoke, through media, to the public about her long-hidden dream. With the support from the local government and warm-hearted people, Huaping Girls' High School was opened in 2008. On the first day of the new school year, 100 students entered the school, most of whom were from mountainous areas. Since she started the school, Zhang Guimei has visited more than 1,600 families, traveled more than110,000 kilometers, and walked to many places to encourage parents to send their daughters to school for more than 15 years, so the girls could improve their education to change their lives.

Thanks to Zhang's efforts to help the students improve their studies, many of them were able to get offers from universities. Zhang Guimei worked silently for years, helping more than 1,800 girls in poor mountainous areas realize their dreams.

It is one of the most famous books in the world; yet it has no story and no interesting characters, no exciting beginning and no satisfying ending. And yet it keeps being printed-and it keeps growing!

It began in 1857 as just an idea of a group of people who thought the world needed one to show the history of English words from 1150 CE to the present. It wasn't until the late 1870s, however, when James Murray joined the project that it began to grow. He planned one of about 6,400 pages in four volumes(卷),completed in 10 years. He did most of his work in a small building where he and his workmates collected millions of pieces of paper, each one with a word and an example sentence written on it. Murray and his workmates worked hard, but after five years they had only reached the word ant! It was until 1928 that it was completed and came out. Unluckily, Murray did not live to see the completion of his life's work; he passed away in 1915. As soon as it came out, people started to update it. In 1933, it became 12 volumes. Between 1972 and 1986, four more volumes were added. In 2020 it was reprinted in 20 volumes. Three years later, all the volumes were put onto CD-ROM, and it can be bought online at present.

It not only is a record of where the English language has come from but also become an important part of the history of English-speaking cultures around the world.

I've been in China for two months now. I want to study in a local university, so I took some Chinese classes. I 1 on China because it's a country with trade relationships all over the world. Studying here could be useful in finding a good job in 2 or business. What's more, Chinese culture is really interesting, so choosing to come here was a 3 decision for me. China isn't like I thought it might be. I thought it would be quite old and traditional, but in many ways, the cities are just as 4 as London. There's so much more food to try and it's all delicious! The prices are very low, so it's great for my 5 . The people I meet here are very welcoming 6 me as a foreigner. However, 7 anyone speaksEnglish in my area, so it can be a bit hard at times. But I guess that's why I'm here. I also get a chance to 8 the city. I usually get up early each morning to enjoy a big 9 on the street, and then I often visit a park. I'm really interested in kung fu, so I 10 a lot of time in the city parks practising with the locals. I love my life in China.

Hong Kong's tourism industry is highly developed. There are all kinds of goods from all over the world, and the prices are very low, so Hong Kong is a good place for buyers. It is also a place where Chinese and Western cultures mix. Food from all over the world is brought together to make Hong Kong a"FoodCapital". Every year,a large number of tourists from all over the world come to visit.
