When I was 12 years old, I already knew that my teen years were going to be the worst years of my life. I was a total outsider, bullied (欺凌) at school. I felt completely alone in my small town. 

But by starting to do volunteer work when I was 14, I turned my problem into a passion for helping others. The opportunity to practice kindness made me feel like my life had a greater purpose. The more positive energy I shared, the more kindness and appreciation (感激) I received. I realized that my purpose in life would be to reach out to people, specifically teenagers, and help them feel less alone. 

Books were my true friends back then. I was so thankful for those books the authors (作者) wrote. The kindness they offered me with their books saved my life. One of my biggest dreams was to become an author so that I could write books that would help other teenagers the way those books helped me. 

After going through terrible experiences at school, I made a choice to take the positive road in the next steps of my journey. My dream career, one I thought was only possible for the authors I loved, is what I am doing now. I have been a full-time author of teen novels since 2007 and am grateful for this amazing opportunity to reach out to readers every single day. 

Kindness saved me when I needed help the most. Even small acts of kindness can change people's life. You never know what someone else is going through. But by practicing daily kindness, you become an architect (建筑师) of positive change. 

Benefits of Personality Tests

Are you an "E" (extrovert) person or "I" (introvert) person? A personality test called MBTI(人格类型量表) is very popular these days. Can knowing one's personality type by using the MBTI and other personality tests really help? They may. 

Better understand others

After taking a personality test and seeing our results, we can gain a better understanding of all the different reactions in the same situation. . No personality type is "better" than any other — just different. Each reaction brings something new and interesting to the table. 

Know our likes and dislikes

Maybe we've always hated talking on the phone but never really understood why. . By using personality tests like the MBTI, we can learn more about where we lie on the extroversion/introversion and thinking/feeling continuum(连续体). This helps us better understand why we prefer certain things and dislike others. 

Learning more about our personality type can also help us discover new ways to face challenges. Knowing what might work best for our personality type can give us new ideas on how to solve problems, deal with stress, and manage our work habits. 

During the months of May and June, colleges and universities across the United States will hold graduation ceremonies.Many schools will ask a special person  speak to students during the ceremony.Jorge Black tells us about several of this year's famous graduation speakers. 

That was part of a speech first lady Michelle Obama gave at George Washington University's graduation ceremony in Washington D.C.She gave the graduation speech in May.She wished the students success in the future, and hoped they would keep on  hard to make great progress.Several famous actors also spoke at college graduation ceremonies this month.Cindy Smith spoke to the female graduates  Barnard College in New York City.She described her many early efforts at acting during childhood.She made a strong statement about important role of women today.The writer John Grisham gave many words of advice to students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.He told them to call home once a week and to read at  one book a month.He also called on the graduates to work on finding a voice for themselves that is clear and truthful.

Long time ago, there was a small island on the sea. All the(feel) lived on it. One day, [ˈsʌmwʌn] said the island would go down into the sea. After hearing it. Everybody began to build the boats [ɪkˈsept] love. She didn't believe it at all. 

However, the island really began to go down. People all took their boats to leave. Love had to ask for help. She asked Richness to take her together but Richness (refuse). "I can't take you with me. My boat is of gold. There is no room for you," Richness said. 

Love then asked Sadness for help. Sadness answered, "No. I get used to be lonely. I only want to stay by (I) .

When Love asked Happiness, Happiness didn't help her,. Just then, there was a voice, "Come,Love. I will take you. " It was an [ˈeldə] man. Love was so excited that she forgot to ask the (man)name. 

Later, she knew the man was Time. When she asked Knowledge why Time helped her, Knowledge said, " only Time is able to understand how valuable(珍贵的) you are. "

Last Saturday afternoon, Mrs. Smith was cooking dinner in the kitchen. Suddenly she heard a child crying, "Help ! Help me! "She was very scared. 

She searched carefully and she was sure the sound came from her neighbor's bedroom. Policemen arrived soon and knocked at the door." Help! Help! "The child was still crying, but no one answered the door. Policeman kicked the door open. They searched all the rooms one by one ,but they couldn't see anybody. It was so strange!

Maybe you often have arguments with your parents about clothes, homework, friends and many other things. But what's going on when your parents fight with each other? Most teenagers feel sad or afraid when their parents fight. They might think their parents don't love each other anymore and that their arguments will lead to a divorce(离婚).

In fact, it is normal for parents to disagree and argue sometimes. They might disagree about important things like jobs and family decisions. They might even disagree about little things that don't seem important at all, like what's for dinner. However, these arguments are often over quickly. Parents may say sorry and make up, and the family returns to normal.

As a family member, you should find out what it really means when your parents fight. When your parents get angry with each other, they might say things they don't really mean. So if your parents are fighting, don't worry too much about it. Try to find a good way to solve it.

If your parents' fight really bothers(打扰) you, you might find it hard to sleep or go to school. If this happens, try talking to your parents about their behaviors. You can also tell other relatives ,a teacher or a close friend. Just remember that no family is perfect and arguments are common in every family.

Arc you under stress? Well, it is believed that everyone feels stress sometimes. You feel stress when you have a lot of work to do and do not have enough time. You can also feel stress when you have problems that are difficult to deal with. Sometimes, a little stress can be good. But usually, stress is bad.

Too much stress can cause health problems. Stress can make it hard to sleep well. Some people under too much stress even can't sleep all night. It can also make it difficult to finish school work. If you have a health problem, stress can make it worse.

____ You can talk to your parents or a friend about your feelings. Tell them what makes you feel stress. Talking about stress can help you face it bravely and understand it. How can you take away the problem that is making you feel stress? Sometimes, writing down the problem and writing way s to take it away can help.

Exercise is also a good way to help with stress. Different exercise like playing sports or walking, can help you feel better. Make sure that you are taking care of yourself. Getting enough sleep, eating the right kinds of food, and having time to sit are also important.

If you feel that you have too much stress, tell other people and get some help to get away from it.
