How do you go to school? By bus? By train? On foot? For some children, the answer is "I swim". 14-year-old Mosa tells us about how he gets to school.

I live in a small village in South Africa. I can see my school from my bedroom window. But there is a big problem—there is a river between home and my school. There is a small boat, but poor children do not have money to use it.

Every morning, my friends and I take off our school uniforms near the river. We put our clothes and school books in a bucket(木桶). Then we swim to school. On rainy days, the water runs quickly. This is very dangerous. Another problem is the crocodiles(鳄鱼). They live in the river and want to eat us. It is very scary and dangerous too!

After swimming, we are tired at school. Then after school we must swim again to get home.

Mosa says that the people in his village want to build a bridge over the river. But this needs a lot of money. I hope one day Mosa and his friends can have a safe way to go to school.

Tina and her family (搬家) from China to Britain three weeks ago. Tina is (礼貌的) and likes smiling. She has a brother called Tom. They get on well with (每个)other. What's more, they always play 

(一起).

Last Sunday, their new neighbour (邻居) invited them to a party. Tina didn't want her brother to be (无礼的). So she said to him, "Now, we are in Britain. The (英国的) people shake hands when they meet for the first time. When we talk with them, we should look at them but we can't stand too close to them. Don't talk about (个人的) things, such as a woman's (年龄).""You are right. I know they usually talk about the (天气)," Tom said. Then Tina went to the kitchen and took out a box. Tom asked, "What's that?""It's a chocolate cake. People always (带来) a small present for the host(主人). OK. We are ready. Let's go to the party now."

Su Shi, one of the most popular ancient writers, was born in Meishan, Sichuan Province. He was good at almost all kinds of writings and art. When he was young, he became an official(官员). Sadly, Su was punished to serve in faraway areas. But he didn't lose courage. First, he went to Huangzhou. There, he tried to enjoy life in the countryside. He farmed a piece of land which he called"Dongpo (东坡)".▲It's said that he also invented Dongpo Pork, a famous Chinese dish during this period. Many of his best poems were written there too, including"Tune: Calming the Waves(《定风波》)". Its line"Impervious to wind, rain or shine, I'll have my will. (归去! 也无风雨也无晴。)"showed his open-minded attitude. Later, he went to Hangzhou. He finished building Su Causeway(苏堤) there.

Then, he worked in Danzhou. At the beginning, he couldn't get used to the hot, wet weather. He also couldn't understand the local language. Then he set up schools and many people travelled far away to visit him.

Will Rest is an 11-year-old boy from the US. This summer, the little boy 1 a hero(英雄).

One morning, he took a bus to school. 2 the other students, Will always played games on his phone. He had to wait about 20 minutes to 3 the bus.

I usually watch the news in the morning. But after I read the (报纸) about Kobe Bryant's death, I was really sad. January 26, 2020 was a special (日期). A plane crashed(坠毁) and caught (火). Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna died unluckily.

Kobe Bryant was a great basketball player. He was born on (8月) 23, 

1978. He grew up(成长) in a

 (富有的) family. When he was (年轻的), he learned to play basketball from his father. At the _

(年龄) of 17, he started to play for the team Los Angeles Lakers. In the next 20 years, he played hard for Lakers in every game. That made him famous (到处) the world.

After Kobe's death, I watched many videos about him (再一次). But I can't see him in (真实的) life any more. I will always remember Kobe Bryant.

It was lunchtime. Ruth and Bonnie sat for lunch. Ruth was too hungry. She ate two (hamburger) in one go. Bonnie picked up her hamburger she didn't eat, and her eyes (be) red.

"You don't look well. What happened?" Ruth asked.

"My daddy (lose) his job yesterday,"Bonnie cried."And we may leave the city soon."

That made Ruth very sad. They were friends from  age of six. What would life be like without Bonnie? She had to help (she).

As is known to all, Confucius(孔子) was one of the greatest Chinese teachers in history. Here is more information about him.

He was born over 2,000 years ago and lived in the Kingdom of Lu(鲁国), part of today's Shandong Province. He lived during the Spring and Autumn Period(春秋时期). His childhood was sad. His father died when he was only three years old and he had to work to help his mother. But young Confucius didn't give up(放弃) studying.

He visited many famous teachers and learned music, history, poetry(诗歌) and sports. Later, he became a teacher and started the first public school in Chinese history. At that time only children from rich families could go to school if they wanted to learn. He had about 3,000 students in his lifetime(一生). Today, people still follow Confucius' lessons. He told us that

everyone has something worthy(值得的) to learn and to teach.

Also, he was a famous thinker with his wise thoughts about the world and society. His most important teachings are about kindness and good manners(礼仪).

I' ve loved my mother' s desk since I was just tall enough to sit above the top of it. Standing by her chair, looking at the ink bottle, pens, and white paper, I thought that the act of writing must be the most wonderful thing in the world. Years later, during her final illness, mother divided up her different things for my sister and brother. " But the desk,"  she said, " is for Elizabeth. " 

I never saw her angry, never saw her cry. I knew she loved me; she showed it in her action though she was cold on the surface. But as a young girl, I wanted to have heart-to-heart talks between mother and daughter. However, they never happened. We quarreled with each other frequently and finally, I left home. 

As years passed and I had my own family. I loved my mother and thanked her for our happy family. I wrote to her in careful words and asked her to forgive me. I posted the letter and waited for her answer. None came. 

My hope turned to disappointment, then little interest and, finally, peace. It seemed that nothing happened. I couldn' t be sure that she had received the letter. I only knew that I had written the letter, and I could stop trying to make her into someone she was not. 

Now the present of her desk told me, as she' d never been able to, that she was pleased that writing was my chosen work. I cleaned the desk carefully and found some papers inside a photo of my father and a one-page letter, folded (折叠) and refolded many times. 

Give me the answer， my letter asks, in any way you choose. Mother, you always chose the act that speaks louder than words. 

Several days ago, in a psychology (心理学) class, the teacher asked the students to share something that influenced them. One girl said one of her friends had said 1 that hurt her feelings and she was really sad about it. She didn' t know how to deal with it.

Once there were two good friends, Tom and Tony. They were classmates. Tom was a top student. Tom was always chosen to perform in all school programs and was famous throughout school programs and was famous throughout school. He was always ahead of Tony in all fields. 

One day, when Tony returned home from school, he was feeling blue. When his mother saw that, she said, " Why do you look like a cry baby?" Tony replied, " It' s all because of Tom. Once again, he got higher marks than me and no matter how hard I try, he is always ahead of me. " 

Mother questioned, " Are you jealous (妒忌的) of Tom?" Tony replied, " No, no, why I would be jealous of him. He is my friend. " 

Mother continued, " When Tom is ahead of you, you don' t like it. When he loses, you feel happy. Tell me. Do you feel all of these?" Tony was surprised with what he heard and said, " It' s true, but how did you know about this?" 

Mother replied, " Your face shows it all. When you heartily appreciate (欣赏) the good qualities in others, those qualities will develop in you. " 

Tony began to think, " Tom studies hard every day. He always follows his timetable. . . " 

Tony felt inspired (受鼓舞的) from that day. He began to notice and appreciate Tom' s good qualities. Within no time, he also became a good boy like Tom. He wasn' t jealous of Tom anymore. And he was making progress in all fields.
