Once upon a time, there was a poor village. All the villagers there did not like to 1 , and they had little food. Their doors and windows were closed all day.
One day a stranger(陌生人) 2 the village. He was very tired and 3 . He stopped at the first house and knocked (敲) on the door, hoping someone could 4 him with some bread or cakes.
"Who is that?" the woman inside asked. "I'm a hungry traveler. I 5 if you can give me something to eat?" the stranger replied. "No 6 ," she said. The stranger knocked on the door again, asking, "Are you hungry? 7 you will like my magic stone soup." "Stone soup?" she said. Though she felt it was 8 , she invited him in.
The woman lit(点燃) the fire, placed a kettle(锅) of water on top, and opened her 9 to let out some heat. Then the stranger put the stone into the boiling (沸腾的) water 10 and said, "The soup will taste better with some salt in it." The woman gave some salt to 11 . Minutes later, the stranger said, "Some carrots and beef will make the soup 12 more delicious." The woman agreed.
Soon a neighbor followed the nice 13 and came to the house. "The soup can be much nicer 14 we have some beans and chicken," the stranger said. "I have some," the neighbor shouted and ran back to his home. Very soon many other 15 came with other vegetables or meat.
That day the villagers tasted the finest soup. From that day on, they started to share things with each other.
