Zhou Chu was a great general (将军) in the Jin Dynasty, ancient China. However, he used to do many bad things in his village. When he was young, Zhou was very tall and strong. He behaved very badly and always bullied(欺凌) the villagers. At that time, the villagers thought there were "three scourges (祸害)" —the man-eating tiger in the southern mountain, the dragon under the water and Zhou Chu. They always ran away as soon as they saw Zhou Chu.
After knowing about that, Zhou decided to help them kill the tiger and the dragon. ▲ Finally, after three days and nights, he made it. On the fourth day, Zhou Chu came back to the village, thinking that he would be a hero (英雄). But everyone was happy, singing and dancing, because they thought that all "three scourges" were gone forever.
He felt sad and went to a wise and learned man called Lu Yun for help. He said, "I used to do many bad things and waste most of my time. Now I have realized my mistakes. I want to correct them and be a better man, but I'm afraid it's too late." Lu Yun told him, "Don't worry. You have such a great determination(决心), so there is hope for your future."
From then on, Zhou Chu studied hard under Lu Yun's teaching. In the end, he got popular in his village and became a brave and great general.
