Ma Chengpeng's family has been named "the most beautiful volunteer family in Beijing".
Ma and his wife(妻子) Hu Aixiang moved to Beijing in
2003. Since then, they have spent much time volunteering to help others. By doing so, they show gratitude to those who have helped them since they came there. Their daughter, Ma Han, and son, Ma Xunrui, have followed their example and become volunteers.
During the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympics, all of the family served as city volunteers. They took turns providing services at city volunteers'stations. For example, they handed out brochures (宣传册) to people to help them learn the Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympics.
"Grandma, may I help you take some photos with the mascots (吉祥物), Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon?" Ma Han asked an elderly woman who was visiting Ditan Park. The elderly woman wanted to take photos with the sculptures (雕像) of the mascots. But the sculptures were too big and it was difficult for her to take nice photos by herself. Ma Han noticed her and quickly gave help. She has been named "the most beautiful volunteer" and a "five-star volunteer" in Beijing. She has taken part in many kinds of volunteer activities during the past 10 years.
Ma Xunrui was born a few months after the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. Now he is happy to join his parents and sister in being a city volunteer. "I used to be shy. Now I'm becoming more outgoing. I'm not afraid to talk to strangers (陌生人)anymore," the boy said.
