Have you heard of any legends about the moon? They are really interesting.
Most Chinese know the story of Chang'e and her flight to the moon. But they may not know there is also a Jade Rabbit(玉兔) in the moon. Here is one of the (story).
Three fairies(仙子) turned (they) into poor old women and asked a fox, a monkey, and a rabbit for food. Both the fox . the monkey gave some food to them. But the rabbit had nothing (give) them. The rabbit thought they were so (hunger), so it jumped into a fire to give its own flesh(肉). The fairies were very thankful, so they (send) the rabbit to live in the Moon Palace beside the beautiful and lonely Chang'e.
Chinese people often talk about Chang'e"the woman in the moon". In (west) countries, people talk about "the man in the moon". The man in the moon is old man with some sticks on his back. Sometimes he carries a lantern a little dog beside him.
