In July, 2023, a Chinese scientist and his team won the European Inventor Award 2023. Their science technology is to reduce the risk of battery explosion and fire in electric vehicles.
Wu Kai is the chief scientist of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited. He and his team developed a special kind of battery with a top cover. It can lower battery safety risks a lot. The EPO said the invention helps to ensure the safety of vehicles with batteries.
Wu said, "If electric vehicles use our advanced and safe batteries, more people will enjoy a sustainable lifestyle. This certainly does much help to the global energy transition （转型）.
"The new inventions shown by this year's winners are the source of inspiration. They are in the face of many shared challenges of the modern world, such as sustainability, energy transition and social inequality, " said Antonio Campinos at the ceremony.
The winners of European Inventor Award 2023 were chosen from more than 600 nominees all over the world. Many of their new inventions are to improve people's daily lives and manage great social challenges, such as environmental problems or the energy transition.
