TV has been around for a long time, since the 1930s! But the way we watch TV has changed a lot over the years.
In the 1950s, only some families had a TV. TVs were very expensive and had small screens. They had only few channels( 频道) to choose from. In the 1980s, TVs got cheaper and more families had one. Most people had a TV in their living room, and family sat together and watched their favorite shows. There was no"Watch next episode(集)"button, so people had to wait to watch the next part of their favorite soap opera. In the 2000s, TV started to be available (可获取的) on the Internet. People could choose what they wanted to watch and when they wanted to watch it. This was called on-demand TV(点播电视), and it became very popular. People stopped watching TV together as much; however, they still watched big sports events live(实况转播).
Now people can use different devices to watch TV, like phones and computers, making it easier to watch a TV show at any time. We can also read reviews about our favorite shows online, which adds up to a lot more screen time.
