Alisa didn't have many friends. She liked staying at home and reading books quietly. She never wanted to be popular, but she wanted to have someone to talk about her secrets and to laugh with.
Then it was time for her to go to middle school in another town. And she had to live with someone she didn't know. She worried a lot about her new school life. She had no idea how to make friends in the new school.
But something happened during the first class. And it changed Alisa's life. The teacher asked everyone to talk a little about themselves. Alisa told everyone where she came from and some other things. The last question for each student was, "What's your goal for this term?" Most of the students said they wanted to be adept at all the subjects and then got high marks in all the exams or something like these. But Alisa said something different. She said that she wanted to make just one good friend.
When most of the students sat quietly, one student came to Alisa. She reached out her hand and said, "Hi, Alisa! My name is Jessie. I want to be your friend. " Alisa was surprised and happy. She smiled and reached her hand out too.
They were each other's best friend all through the middle school.
