It took 12 years to make the documentary. It mainly tells the stories of two people—a boy named Chi Yiyang and a girl named Rourou. Both were born in 2001. The documentary is only 89 minutes long, but it shows their life from 5 to 17 years old.
The documentary gives an interesting look at the growth of these two kids. As a child, Chi was quite difficult and often fought with other kids. These kids' parents didn't want him to go to school. But the head teacher didn't lose hope and cheered him and made him become a better boy. Rourou loved ballet (芭蕾) as a child. But when she reached Junior 3, her father wanted her to stop going to ballet classes and spend most of her time on study. Rourou didn't want to do so. Luckily, her mother helped her and she could keep learning ballet. In the end, ballet helped Rourou make many friends while she was studying in the US.
