A month before my first marathon (马拉松赛),one of my feet was hurt and this meant not running for half a month, leaving me only two 1 to train. Although my foot was hurting, I had a strong feeling to 2 .
I remember back to my 7th grade in school. In my first P.E. class, the teacher required us to run and then hit a ball. He told me that I was not good at sports, because I did both 3 . The idea stuck with me for years.
When I started running in my 30s, I realized running was a 4 against myself, not about competition or whether or not I was good at sport. It was all about the challenge for my own body and mind. A test of 5 !
The 6 before my marathon, I dreamt that I couldn't even find the finish line. It made me kind of 7 , but ready to prove something to myself.
Shortly after crossing the start line, my shoelaces became untied. So I stopped to tie. Not the 8 I wanted!
At mile 3, I 9 a sign: "GO FOR IT, RUNNERS!" At mile 17, out of breath and in terrible pain, I kept going by 10 between walking and running.
As I came close to mile 23, I could see my mom waving a sign. If there is anyone who has believed in me during this journey, it's always been her. She 11 minded waking me up at 5 a.m. or questioned 12 cost like running shoes, hats and so on. No doubt she is my biggest fan!
I was one of the final runners to finish. 13 I finished! And I got a medal.
Did I win? Of course I did! I only had myself to 14 ! Strong willed to be myself, move forward, 15 of shame, I can now call myself a "marathon winner".

But I have to say that my husband's transition (过渡) to retirement was one of (big) challenges in our life. For the first time, he felt lost. How would he find purpose and make living that could allow for a healthier lifestyle?
During the last Christmas, I bought him one yoga card. I found the magic of yoga a few years earlier and wanted to share him. He was thankful, but the gift card (hide) in his wallet. Well, things have changed since then. My husband has always been a gentle man, but ever since he decided to take a yoga class, he (become) much gentler. And all our grown children now throw a yoga mat (垫) in their back seat. Dad and Mom do it, it must be worth a try.
